Cozy, historic blue collar place! Sunday around 3 was crowded but eventually got a seat. Food was DELICIOUS! Nachos were topped with a tasty jalapeno relish and were head and shoulders above other restaurants. Around our table we had blue cheese salad, burger, steak, jerk chicken tacos, chowder (it's thicccc) and french onion soup. Extensive beer menu, pretty light on the cocktail/booze menu. No baby changing stations, and bathrooms are tiny! Plenty of parking. Looking forward to returning next time we're in the area.

First visit with family, we were met promptly at the entrance, we could either eat in the lounge area or dining area, we choose the dining area. Service was excellent, we ordered baked scallops, it came with white rice and a nice salad. The price for each scallop plate was $15.95, I expect 3 scallops or so since it was on the lunch menu. The plate arrived filled with scallops covered with buttered ritz cracker crumbs , it was excellent . Definitely a nice tavern with excellent food!

A very unique restaurant with good food and great service. Known for their chicken wings and the many flavors they didn't disappoint. The decor from the 1800's with the pot belly stove roaring away our server Darien provide great customer interaction and service. I would highly recommend visiting the Bidwell Tarvern.

I've been going here for many years (I'm old). The live music, still good. The atmosphere, lovely, especially in the winter (wood stove!!). The food, delicious. I know everyone goes on about their wings but the French onion soup will warm your soul. I recently had the Bidwell Shrimp. Crispy, spicy and served with HOMEMADE blue cheese dressing. The staff is always friendly. A very New England place to eat in a New England town. ♥

Excellent menu , great food. Excellent service. You can't go wrong paying a visit to the Bidwell Tavern which was founded in 1822.

First time this evening and really out of the way but the pics looked great and to my surprise everything was so good! Our waitress Carly was so good with us. She was so busy and made sure we were happy. As for the food, the Mushroom was my favorite. I hope you will make it again. The Jalapeno poppers were also incredible!!!! For dinnerwe had the Pot roast and I had the Sirloin tips. Both were amazing. Between the history of the place, the great food and our great waitress, we will be back!!!

10.28.23 we were a party of 4 that sat outdoors. We were excited to visit here again and we came early before the dinner rush. Unfortunately this time we didn't have a great experience because they were understaffed and folks at table next to us told us the food was coming out an hour after you order and the manager made the staff cry. Our waitress was very good and she tried but we could tell she was running. We waited forever to pay our bill and had to go indoors to find someone who'd take our money. The food was good. My garlic parm wings were good and the others liked their entrees too. We would have ordered more food and drinks if there was someone to serve us. Not sure we'll go back anytime soon. There are other places that aren't as crazy.

9.18.21 this is based only on my take-out experience as this time we didn't eat indoors. Phone order, was ready in 20 minutes, quick and efficient service and the wings were great. Only criticism/ comment is that the coleslaw should have been in a separate container as is soaked the burger bun. But everything was tasty and good.

Best wings EVER..!!!

My wife and I have turned this experience into a weekly date night. The live music and outdoor patio just adds to great food and ambience.

During the winter, the wood stove just adds to the ambitious forest cabin atmosphere.

Hard to pass up some good eats at this historic tavern . If comfort food is your thing and you love great wings, this is the place to go. Lots of local beers on tap and generous portions for almost everything on the menu.

Came back after 16 years and it was every bit as delicious as I remember. Had the baked scallops and the clam chowder. Hubby's wings were also fantastic. Service was superb. Look forward to coming back on our next visit to CT!

Words cannot describe how legendary these wings are. I have never, NEVER, had any wing like these. The flavor, crispiness, variety, and legacy. All these themes for me meet a 10/10 score, absolute perfection! I must insist if you haven't gotten a tavern size portion of wings go try them. I understand I am just a man of the internet with a picture of a fish for a face but please take my word.

A great time Friday evening with the band “Hardwood” - playing classic rock (CSN, Dylon, Harrison, the Dead, the Band, etc & some originals). Bidwell serves some of the best wings in the area (coming from Buffalo that’s a high compliment). Had a perfectly cooked mushroom & Swiss burger & wife had the Gorgonzola salad - both generous portions. Service was fast, friendly, & attentive - great selection of beers & wine. Classic New England Tavern atmosphere.

I heard that this place was one of the best places to eat in the area, so I decided to give it a shot. It was really loud and crowded in our section and I was a bit uncomfortable at first. I thought I wouldn’t enjoy my meal, but I was wrong.
They were pretty busy and our waitress had another party with about twenty people that was stressing her out, but she did a great job and the food was really good. I have to go back to try some of the other items I wanted to try, but I’ll probably go on a weekday afternoon and avoid a weekend night crowd.

Great wings
very pricey. 1.49 a wing.
Considering you can buy 40lbs of jumbo wings from the wholeseller for 97.00
So that's .24 cents a wing
Everything is so expensive.
Making 500% profit crazy.

Been coming here since the early days at the University. The wood stove in winter is just wonderful, completes the wood-cabin interior. Great selection of beer on tap, and the wings never fail even after all these years. Live music available too. Just a great place to hang out with friends.

The ambiance is truly an old style old town tavern. Service is exceptional as is the food and menu. Whether you are looking to bring the family or meet with the boys/gals for an after work drink this place can accommodate it all. Beautiful antique furniture is found throughout along with a working heat stove. This is certainly a place I would revisit.

We had a variety of appetizers. You must try the wings. Very tasty. Followed by the stuffed mushrooms. And the potato flatbread pizza.
