The Pub at the Pinicon

Back in 2019 the Pinicon was voted best pork tenderloin sandwich in Iowa. Finally stopped here for dinner and had to order the famous PT. You can choose to have this grilled or fried (recommend fried). It was a huge piece of tenderloin on a bun with fixings and choice of side. This was too much for me so I like to cut the tenderloin in half and make myself a sandwich and take the other half back for another meal. Tenderloin was very juicy and the breading was crispy. Overall a very good tenderloin sandwich.
Inside has a number of rooms and an event center. Place is dim like a pub with a bar near the entrance. There is also a freezer near the entrance if you want to take meat home.

Stellar food and wonderful service!! Raspberry Chicken Chipotle flat bread, Turkey Bruschetta sandwich, and a baked Ziti. All were truly amazing, great flavor, and perfectly cooked! Then the girls had dessert to top it off. Plenty of leftovers and all were happy for the hour drive home!! If you haven't been there, or if it's been a while, it's time to go back!!

Excellent. Drove 2 1/2 hours. It's definitely worth the trip. Amazing tenderloin. Massive pile of onion rings. Great prices. Chef Raymond is extremely attentive to his customers. Karen was a wonderful server.

If you are within a 100 miles, do yourself a favor, drive here and experience an amazing meal. Every step from the hostess, to our server(Adam), to the GM, was executed perfectly. Order whatever your heart desires, but sample the ribeye, the cheese curds and the fried pork tenderloin sandwich. One warning: come very, very hungry.

They make a great fried pork tenderloin sandwich. The pork is thick and juicy with a nice crunchy brown crust.

The beef filet was one of the best we have ever had. I cannot think of any place in Cedar Rapids that has a steak this good. Well worth the drive.

Showed up 15 min before closing time, and they didn't mind at all. Actually were very accommodating and very friendly!

Popped in for early dinner- service (Nicole, our server) was impeccable, friendly and fast!!
Ordered 6 piece fried pork wings(!!) HUGE order!!’ So good!! We also ordered crispy chicken wrap - yum(!!), and baked ziti w/ chicken(!!). Everything was delicious.
Next time we are up again from Dallas, TX, we’ll be back!!

Respectful waitress, large portions of appetizers and our steaks were very good.

We decided to ride the motorcycles up to the pub for dinner ,the food was beyond words, the service was fantastic and the servings were so generous that we had to have a container to take home what we could not finish

Outstanding. I drove all the way from Minneapolis to meet someone for dinner. I'd seen on the Tenderloin Trail website that this place had an outstanding pork tenderloin sandwich, and that's what I went to get. It didn't disappoint. I don't think I've ever had a tenderloin that was more perfectly seasoned and fried. As good as the tenderloin was, the sandwich came with just lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle on the side. I think it could have used some sort of sauce, even just mayo. (I realize it might be heresy to say that a pork tenderloin sandwich needs mayo...) Other than that, it was perfect. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

The only problem we have with this place is it can take a very long time to be waited on and then very long time for you food to come and no one tells you why your foods not coming in as timely manner. We were there on a Tuesday night. We were there 2 hours and 45 minutes. We were a group of 4 adults and 1 small child! The restaurant was about half full. It took our server 20 minutes to check in with us and we ordered right away. Then it was over an hour wait for our meal. When she came back to offer dessert she apologized for the long wait. She was upset too that our wait was so long do she went and asked in the kitchen. A group of 30 were in a room she wasn't aware of and there order went in just before ours. The food is always yummy! The waitress was very friendly. I just wish she would've checked what the deal was and kept us updated.

This was my first time here. We met halfway with family for my wife's birthday, and I feel like it was a successful idea. The appetizers (pretzels w/ beer cheese, chips and queso, and onion rings) were good. Special props to the queso, probably the best I've had in general. We were a party of 6, and more often than not, in a bigger group, someone is going to have some kind of issue with their food, and that was the case here. I was not a huge fan of the baked Mac and cheese (with crispy chicken added). The chicken was rubbery and seemed old, and just kind of killed my appetite for the dish. With that being said, I still got plenty to eat between the appetizers and the side salad that I still came away satisfied. The service was a bit slow at the end (getting boxes/check) but they were absolutely packed and I would expect it to take a bit for those things with all of the other service going on.
Overall, I still give this place 5 out of 5, because the food really was good and one simple mistake out of a the 15-17 plates that were served to us after sides and all are considered, is expected. These are humans, not robots, and are allowed mistakes. Would certainly come here again if I'm in the area!
