Clean and comfortable, a great basic no-frills hotel. Interesting historical artifacts/decor in the hallways. The food at the cafe was good, although the service was not very quick. Front desk staff was a little eccentric, but not at all rude.

Rooms were great. Service in sports bar was amazing. The food was amazing. My first time ever having buffalo! The lady at the front desk was horrible. She needs to go to housekeeping. No customer service skills at all. I told her I was checking in and gave her my last name. She responded with we have no reservations. Short and borderline rude. I asked her what side the room was on left or right she responded with "upstairs." Had I not already paid I would have left and missed a great experience. Everyone was amazing except her.

I stayed here while working out of town for 2 months. It felt like home away from home, the staff is very professional, helpful, and courteous. Both the restaurant and the bar are excellent I highly recommend if the beer cheese soup and the fry bread. I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Stacie and Tara.

Surprising lil gem! Expectations were mediocre, but wonderfully exceeded. From a frequent traveler who rarely accepts the first room, I found the accommodations extremely clean and comfortable. Room was recently updated, and bed was super comfy. The bar & grill was one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen, and the restaurant was homey. Added bonus was the historic collection of Indian artifacts along the hallways. Was in town for out of state business, and would 💯 recommend to anyone traveling through!

The gal at the front desk was juggling about six tasks at once and was incredibly attentive to all of them at the same time. She was informative and sincere. The hotel was probably one of the most quiet establishments I have ever slept in, void of even mechanical noise like a pop machine or ice machine. It was clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. I ate at the attached sports bar and the food was better than I had expected and the fries were awesome!

These are meals that my friends recently had at the Chieftain for breakfast. I was only having coffee, but I thought the meals were very attractive, so i took pictures of them. My friends commented on how good everything was, and they obviously enjoyed the food because there was nothing left on their plates when breakfast was done. The waitress had a pleasant personality, and the service was excellent.

We were meeting some family members that were unable to make the trip to Fargo for our Christmas due to a storm. The restaurant was actually closed (just the bar open) but because we called ahead, we were able to have a whole room to ourselves. The staff were very accommodating, efficient, and friendly. It turned out to be an excellent experience and the right place for a family gathering.

Great owner and very nice hotel. Bed and room are excellent. One time My car would not start due to -70 wind chill, the owner took and picked me up from work. While I was at work he got my car started and kept it warm in his garage until I checked out.

Better than your average motel. Kitchen closed by the time I checked in on the first night. However, staff & owner were very friendly & accommodating. Dinner the second night was excellent. ( The Bison Ribeye - Medium Rare)

I thought this hotel would be kitchy and the rooms to match. I was wrong. The decor on the newly remodeled rooms match any big city hotels. Peaceful and tranquil color pallette, clean nice linens, furniture, amenities, and necessities. The treasures were a bonus to admire while walking from dinning room to our room. Wonderful well lit displays of artifacts, and handmade items. The worst thing here is the carpet in the dinning room is very dirty, but it so well matches the decor. My martini was the tiniest I have ever been served, but the price was appropriate! $5. The food was good. I would stay again while in the area.

The Chieftain provided lunch after a family funeral. The service and meal were excellent! A soup, salad, and sandwich bar with fixings was provided, and it was the best I have had! I visited with Lori Klein, and she was so helpful and offered suggestions and truly listened to my suggestions. She was so agreeable and made the entire process so easy, I would recommend the Chieftain if you ever need to serve a lot of people a fantastic lunch. Thank you all!!!

It has been 5 years or more since I've been there, and they have done a wonderful remodel of the facility. I was there to make a presentation in one of the conference rooms, and it was very spacious And the food they serve for lunch was excellent.

We love having The Chieftain in Carrington, it's been part of our town's history for nearly 60 years. Food is always excellent, staff is friendly, caramel rolls are a go-to, and their recent remodel makes things feel fresh and modern. A terrific asset for travelers from near and far... everyone takes a picture with the Big Chief and knows exactly where they are.

Any negative reviews after this one are probably from Social Justice Warriors who seem to have a bone to pick with them, so keep that in mind. Thank you, Chieftain!
