Red Vespa

We visited Red Vespa for the first time tonight. The host gave us a heads up that they were operating with a reduced menu and they were short staffed (all too common lately). We decided on their back deck area and it was great. Cozy and shady. We were seated right away and our waitress (Hannah) was there right away to take our drink order. Kim had the "Jolly Rancher" and I ordered the Solon Tea. Both were really good. We ordered the antipasto platter for starters and loved it. For the main course we chose the sausage & mushroom pizza. The pizza is so good! We wrapped up with Salted Butterscotch Budino and Tiramasu for desert. Again, both were excellent. Very impressed with Red Vespa. Even with staff shortages they provided exceptional service - just like they advertise. We'll definitely be back! Thanks for a great experience Red Vespa.

It was a perfect place of having an authentic Italian pizza. If you're a lover and wana feel the taste of orginal pizza I would highly recommend this place. I ordered Mediterranean , sweet bee , margarita , sweet corn pizzas and believe me I feel so light after having them all . We had a reservation before coming in as i don't want to be waiting . The server was very accommodating and welcomed us with such a smiley face. Keep it up guys👌👍

This is a top tier restaurant, not just a "pizza place". Although, the pizza's are amazing as they are cooked right in front of you in a wood burning pizza oven. They have a all homemade rotating menu which is always amazing. There is usually some amazing pasta's and sandwiches along with an antipasto plate or similar top notch appetizers. The beer and wine list are expansive. It sits in the cutest small town downtown you will find, well worth a trip.

Always great ! Good mixed drinks, wine and beer on tap. Especially love the Bee Sting and Salumi pizzas. Great to watch kids design their own pizzas. Staff always friendly helpful.

Great pizza with some combinations I haven't seen elsewhere. Fun for the kids. The kids pizza meal let's them make their own. The ingredients are brought right to the table and they put it together themselves. These kids meals also come with a warm cookie at the end. Reasonably priced. Decent selection of alcohol.

A really great food experience. The house salad's vinagerret dressing was fabulous. The Margarita Pizza was very flavorful and the crust was fantastic. They are baked in a wood fired oven. Everyone in the party all said their food was also excellent. The wine seems to be a great value also.

Very nice atmosphere and great service!! I went with my two daughters and they let them make their own pizza. They loved it! The pizza was good and I love a wood fire pizza. The service was amazing!! They were so nice and polite!

Very good restaurant. I had there Bee Sting pizza and it was delicious. They had a live musician (Dave Ellis) and he was very good. It was a little difficult getting to Solon to get to the restaurant, but well worth it. Great fun atmosphere to hang out with some friends and enjoy pizza or Italian food.

I've had nothing but GREAT service, and GREAT food at Red Vespa. The pizza is one of a kind and the meatballs are fantastic. It can get kind of busy on a Friday night so I recommend getting there a little early if you want a table. Either way, it's worth the wait.

I’ve eaten at Red Vespa a few times, and LOVE the food! I just finished my meal of the meatball starter and the sweet corn pizza. The meatballs tasted just like my Nonna’s. It’s been almost 6 years since she passed away, and I’ve never been able to recreate her meatballs. Thank you, Red Vespa!

We had dinner with another couple at Red Vespa Friday night and it was a great experience. From the delicious and sophisticated appetizers to the well executed entrees, all the food was great. The wine list is not particularly extensive, but the two bottles we tried were both excellent...and very reasonably priced. A great reason to drive to Solon for dinner!

Absolutely stand alone!!! Awesome!!! Pizza!!! Had the pepperoni mushroom and sausage! And Brena,was very helpful and informative! Well, worth the drive! And the leftovers didn't make it ;+). I ate them when I got home!;+)

Everything we've ever ordered is exceptional. Meatballs app is a must every time. Tried to order arracherra last trip but they were sold out. Always get a pizza and pasta to share.

Best pizza! They also have lots of other options. We called in an order for pickup. They were fast and everything was great. Staff is always warm and welcoming and the restaurant is always clean and we'll organized.

This place is absolutely divine!  I look forward to coming back.  It was one of the best meals I have had in a long time!  Everything was excellent from the appetizers (we had calamari and spinach artichoke dip), to the pizza (chicken pesto and grecian specials) to the salted caramel budino...beautiful restaurant and a wonderful staff! A wonderful addition to the corridor!

This is authentic Napoli pizza just like we had in Naples. All ingredients... flour, olive oil, sauce and cheese is imported from Naples Italy. Even the oven! Had a cup of the tomato basil soup and it was delicious. Wonderful experience in this quaint little town of Salon, Iowa

I got the sweet bee pizza. It was fantastic. Not your traditional pizza taste. But it was really good and I would eat it again. Service was great. Very happy with our visit.

Oh my gosh this place! I got the Sweet Bee which is a "secret" menu item - sweet corn, dried salami,hot peppers,honey and mozzarella. Wow it was so good!
The atmosphere is really pretty but very loud. Great service!

Always an excellent dining experience that is casual and great for the family dinner.

Red Vespa is a hidden, small town Iowa gem! Closest pizza to what we experienced traveling in Italy. Friendly service, great food, cool ambiance. We appreciate the creative and scrumptious variety of pizza and pasta specials. The Mediterranean chicken spaghetti was a recent winner we absolutely loved! On the regular menu the Bee Sting pizza, fresh Bibb salad and Vespa Caprese are personal favorites. We look forward to many return visits- worth the drive!!
