I came here for me and my partners anniversary and mentioned that to the woman at the desk, and at the end of our excellent meal we were brought this cute little bear orange. Everything was perfect but that extra touch really made our night! Service was great and the food was even better.

Placed an order online a few times. I really liked the ability to really customize each roll. You can add a bunch of things to the roll. Ordered the Snow Mountain roll adding crab inside. Last time I ordered the Fire Dragon roll. Both rolls were delicious. Will definitely order again when in town.

Appetizers were really good! Tried the Taiwanese Crispy chicken and takoyaki, both were delicious. Rolls were very good. Singapore noodles were very tasty, had the curry flavor on point. The Katsu Don has a very good Japanese fish sauce.
Price was reasonable, lots of food.

Well priced, good atmosphere, and great sushi. Our server was excellent (forgot to get her name) and we got our food very quickly on a Sunday for lunch. Highly recommend the honey roll, eel nigiri, and the salmon sashimi/nigiri

EDIT: couldn’t figure out how to reply to the owner - yes I am sure. We went on Saturday during the 1st half of the Vikings game

I normally dislike ginger-based Japanese salad dressings, but this one was not so overpowering. The miso soup was tasty as well. 5/5!

This is literally my favorite favorite favorite Japanese restaurant (probably restaurant, period). I always come with friends during the lunch hour because everything is priced so well. I usually get the sashimi bento box (comes with a California roll, 6 pcs of sashimi including salmon, tuna and the white fish that I never know the name of as well as salad, soup, edamame and orange slices) the tempura udon (loveee the sweet potato and onion), and the black bean sauce with the udon noodles (so so good). The Singapore style noodles are so fire, and the sushi rolls… honestly, try anything and I bet you’ll love it. This place is a 10/10, Id go every day if I could. Cheers!!

Sushiya has been our favorite sushi restaurant in Iowa City area. We have been visiting this place regularly for the last 3 years, and never had a bad experience. We only eat sushi, and didn't try other options though (because it is so good!).

First time I've dined in here and the sushi chef absolutely knocked it out of the park tonight. The presentation is 11/10 the detail that went into my plate tonight is above and beyond and everything was so pretty and well prepared. My server was great too she was super sweet and very helpful!

So very glad we ate here while we were in town! We started with the shrimp dumplings. We had 6 dumplings and they were delicious cooked perfectly ...and just the right amount of shrimp and seasoning! My wife had the Manhattan ...and I had the Happy Eel. Both were wonderful. The Manhattan was just slightly better because it had a great depth of flavor. My favorite, though, was the Unagi(?). This was the best I have ever had. ( i have tried MANY in the past) The eel piece was huge! The sushi rice was legit and perfectly cooked. Great ambiance and good service. We will be back as often as we can.

Been in Iowa for almost a decade, and I keep coming back to Sushiya. The location is small, which enhances the dining experience and service. It's a hidden gem with great sushi and entrées. Personal favorites are the honey roll and any spicy roll. The Singapore noodles and General Tso chicken are also excellent. This place is worth your time and money every time.

Very good choice while staying in north liberty for a night. Michelle was a great server, very friendly and attentive. We ordered tea and egg rolls to start, then 4 rolls: yam tempura, honey roll, spider, and smoked salmon. All were excellent. My husband didn't realize the spider roll had a whole crab (we've only had sushi 3 or 4 other times in our life) so he was a little put off by the legs and the crunch of the crab body lol, but he ate 4 of the 6 rolls and just took the crab out of the last 2! I liked the honey roll the best-delicious! Beautiful presentation as well!
We were quite pleased with our choice to eat here-we went right at 5pm when they open and when we left the restaurant was full! Always a great sign. We also thanked the men working at the sushi counter which earned us a surprised look and thanks. Most people don't think to thank the chefs which I think is a nice gesture. Remember to top your servers! We also tip generously to thank people in this day and age who actually want to work. Thank you Sushiya!

Wonderful food, service and beautiful presentation!
Staff was so friendly. Such a gem of a place. We were dressed very casual on a Saturday afternoon but no worries.
We sat at the counter. I highly recommend it so you can watch them prepare their beautiful creations.

Stopped in here for a family lunch. You can watch you sushi preparation, which fun for the kids. Everythingwe ordered was delicious. We sampled several rolls and appetizers. The chicken on the appetizer was a huge hit with my family and we plan to double the order next time we visit.

Excellent! I asked the hotel staff for advice on great sushi restaurants in the area (Coralville, Iowa), and she provided Sushiya and one other. Everything we ordered was top-notch.

Cute little place. Friendly staff and yummy food. When the place is full, service is a bit slow. They have a cute seating area outside by the river. I wouldn’t recommend for large groups over 6 unless you don’t mind the constricted space or sitting outside.

The edamame was basic and cold, not hot like I prefer, but nothing that bothered me. Loved the Taiwanese Crispy Chicken: crunchy, a good portion to share, and the veggies with this appetizer tasted great. Shushi rolls we tried and enjoyed: Shrimp Tempura, Dragon, and New York.

Always great food & friendly staff. Eating Singapore noodles for the umpteenth time. Love watching the chefs . New to me today - made reservations via Google.

I got a nice hefty salad with ginger dressing and cherry tomatoes, excellent sushi, and I highly recommend the curry Krokkes (croques?)! We've been to a lot of sushi places and this place has the freshest sushi in town. And I like that the tempura flakes actually have flavor on the Krokkes and the spicy tuna crunch.

Best sushi in Iowa. Hands down. Better than most sushi I've had even in closer to the coast such as California. Great atmosphere and customer service.
