Very unique and interesting place. The smallest state park in Kansas. This was a fun stop for the family. My son loved the mushroom rocks and there is on rock that reminds us of a shoe. Definitely stop if you are in the area.

It was clean, has restroom, lots of coyotes howling in the distance that night. You have to drive a little on an unpaved road but any car can do it. It has picnic tables and even a small pavilion.

Took a short detour on our way to Colorado to visit and I’m glad we did! Great history and great photo ops! My boys were happy to stretch their legs and run around. After so much driving with “nothing” around. We actually liked that previous visitors carved their initials and year. It was a fun game to find all the numbers and see if we could find the oldest marks!

Oh and make sure you cross the bridge! We almost didn’t because it was so hot outside, but I’m so glad we did! The rock formations on that side were beautiful!

Was happy to see restrooms when we arrived. And was pleasantly surprised how clean they were for a composting toilet. Very well taken care of. Trail is easily accessible. Kids had a blast trying to catch all the little lizards.

It’s a little bit out there and you had to use a little bit of gravel road but it’s a pretty nice little gem of cool looking rocks in the area. There’s a little trail going north of the street (opposite side of where the restrooms are) and there’s another slightly longer trail on the other end. Altogether it’s only about 0.2-0.3 miles walk.

What a cool and unique place ! The historical and geographical value of this place is almost untouchable ! This place gave me an entirely new perspective on graffiti... at first angry that so many people had etched their names in the soft rock formations until I started reading some of the dates ! Many initials and names from the mid to late 1800's ! These formations were stopped at and enjoyed for years as early settlers moved into the area and travelers going west passed by .. so incredible! A free to visit very naturally kept little known state park that you must go visit !

This is waaayy off the beaten path, but it's worth the drive. I did the Kansas scenic Prairie byways drive and passed within a few miles. The park is small but well maintained. In addition to the main attraction, it has some short walking trails and a picnic gazebo.

Honestly such a cool place to stumble upon. There's a lot of history here, not only the rocks, but of those who've left graffiti in them. 1800s were some of the earliest dates I saw. There are two sides to this park on either side of the road. We had a picnic and it was beautiful!

Really cool spot. If you're driving down i70 and want a cool, free, spot to check out I highly recommend this place. As a geology major it was a really cool place to check out

This was a wonderfully surprising place to visit. Especially since the idea of Kansas is flat and boring, this place was really great. Being able to climb all over the rocks was fun for the kids. There were a few walking trails around the small park. The toilet house is a welcome addition to the park because it really is in the middle of nowhere.

It is an interesting place from the point of view of the type of geological formation itself. I have never heard of anything similar.

However, it is a shame to see the condition of abandonment in which it is. Obviously it does not have the same relevance or promotion as other places. This place isn't close to any other tourist area, there is nothing else to see or do nearby. People have been mistreating and deteriorating the environment and the natural structures themselves.

There is no minimum protection on them. It is something unique and very interesting to see, if you can visit it, better do it, before more unscrupulous people finish it up.

This is a nice little park. You can take a quick walk to stretch your legs. It has a bathroom and a covered bench. A short bridge will take you across to a second set of rocks. No food here. Just a quick stop . My favorite was the rock with the tree growing on it!

If you’re anywhere near this area in Kansas, it’s definitely worth the detour, for a nice rest and walk to stretch your legs. There are acceptably clean out houses and plenty of space to park. There is no charge for this attraction. The trail is very short but the views of the rocks are out of this world! Very cool and unique formations. The kids loved seeing them and were very happy we stopped.

Smallest State Park in Kansas, the description says 5 acres but I think it might be 2 acres

The area was clean and the rock formations were neat to see, and although it's seemingly in the middle of nowhere, there was more traffic here than I was expecting. If you like rocks, or bizarre rock formations, I recommend visiting this small area.

We loved stopping here on our trip to Colorado. This place is litterally in the middle of nowhere. The kids (and dog) loved getting to run around after being in the car for several hours and getting the explore these cool formations. A must stop in you are driving near it!

A bit off the beaten path, but worth going to if you're driving cross country on I-70. It's about 20 minutes from the freeway. We enjoyed the various rock formations with our one year old daughter. Lots of room to run around and play. There is a bench and a picnic table. There are restrooms, however there is no running water and no toilet paper when we went.

Wow! So glad we drove out here. The dirt road was a little slick after 3 big thunderstorms, but the scenery and smell were great. There's fly-infested pit toilets, no water. Small parking space, but easy to find a spot by road. We had it all to ourselves.
The obvious mushroom has lovely "hoodoo" rocks nearby. Walk up the hill behind for the view.
Please don't deface the rock....it looks like folks have done that for ages.
Cross the road and the bridge, wander the trail ahead of you...another mushroom and some of the most spectacular rocks ever will appear.

The layers, holes, and arrangement of these stones are impressive. Wish they were in my backyard!

There's an explanatory sign, one of the "Brown" ones, which has been edited (wisely) by someone. A sturdy, shaded bench doesn't give much of a view, but is restful.
