This is a great place to visit on your way to go see the bison. The school is remarkably well preserved and offers a great view of the Prairie. During certain seasons The bison will even be close enough to view. I would highly recommend if you enjoy museums to come and visit this.

Lovely and peaceful place. This is a different type of beauty here in Kansas. The plane stretch as far as the eye can see. There are also Buffalo in the area as well. Depending on the time of day and season is very tranquil to walk on the path and the trails at the park has so meticulously maintained.

There's a path that goes around the whole park. The school house here is also very cool to see. It's very idyllic. We'll definitely come back here again for the beautiful views and tranquility.

Definitely worth several trips up here if you live in the area.

History teaches us (pun intended) a lot, ONLY if we let it. This preserve and school tells us much of our ancestors who came and conquered what use to be wide Open Prairie with no walls, no barbed wire fences, no destruction of the indigenous buffalo and Native American culture. Enjoy.

This was an old school in the area that is a part of the NPS site nearby, Tallgrass Prairie. We got to walk into the school house and explore. We saw a bison or 2 in the distance outside of the schoolhouse. Great place to see what schools looked like back in the early 1900s.

This schoolhouse is in amazing condition for it's age! It can be reached by hiking from the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve or it is a scenic overlook off the highway. During certain times of the day/year you can go inside and see a peek into the schoolroom of 150 years ago complete with desks, primers, and reenactors. Even from the outside it's a beautiful sight!

Nice place for Sky gazing. The place has less noise and light polution. I went there to watch the Comet. Had the clearest view of milkiway and comet. I would highly recommend it for sky watching.

It's a great look into the past. Hiking on the prairie gives a whole new respect for those heading west all those years ago

One of the few single room school houses remaining in the area. It's been renovated to it's former status.
