Old Main Street Cafe

Everytime I visit home I have to come to old main! My absolute favorite since I was a kid was getting a chocolate malt with my dad! They used to give you your malt, and then whatever extra they made which ended up being enough for a little kid and that made it seem so fun! Their big train iced coffee’s are holy moly so good and sweet!!! The food is classic diner food, can’t go wrong there. The environment is fun! There are steep steps going upstairs but it’s so fun seeing all the old town photos and the food being named after little towns.. the fish tanks have improved cleanliness wise.. staff are fun and sweet!! I love the soup bar and really anything I get here!!

Food was amazing. Service wasn't so great. She came and took our order, brought us our food and didn't come check on us until she brought us our check. She checked on other tables around us but not us.

This is a wonderful gem. Today was my first visit and I can't wait to go back. The food is awesome and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend this family stop.

My husband and I got the soup bar and salad. The soup was hot, there was a separate bar of bread and cracker options to go with it, and everything was good. The tomato soup in particular was very simple but SO delicious! Our server was very friendly also. It would be hard to beat for the price!

Delicious food- the French fries were superb, and burgers are excellent! The kids menu was also wonderful for our little guy- they had a booster seat so he could sit in our booth too! Very clean, the staff were extremely nice. It just doesn't get any better than this!!

I recommend their Mexican skillet their Denver skillet and they have a damn good chicken wild rice soup they also offer 🍷🍻 great vibes - come here when passing thru devil's lake and remember SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUISINESS mama papa appreciate it Ill bet my soul as God as my witness

Very fast, hot food, so good. We will return here anytime we come back to DL.

I've been coming here since I was a child and this place has NEVER disappointed me. They have great friendly staff, a calming and welcoming environment, and the food is absolutely delicious. Probably my favorite part is the soup bar and their delicious bowl of chili, a must try here. If you're looking for a good warm meal with plenty to choose from and at good prices, this is the place.

I love at eating at local cafes and restaurants in lieu of chain restaurants. This was a great spot for an affordable lunch

Old Main is so memorable for so many things. My son was a valued part of their staff on his younger days. The food is wonderful, the staff knows me, and we always visit Old Main when Devils Lake is our destination.

Wow! The charm of this small restaurant is so amazing. The food was top notch. I ate so much that I was miserable. Staff were very kind and friendly. Best breakfast I've had in a long time. I got scrambled eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. Mh husband got a breakfast skillet. There wasn't a single bite left on either of our plates.

Good simple meal with fresh kittylope (cantaloupe). Plenty to see, old photos.

Soup bar had 7 homemade soups. Food was delicious and service top notch

Traveled to Devil's Lake for work from Fargo with a couple of other people. Old Main was recommended by a couple of locals for their soup bar. I love soup, so off we went. It's right in the middle of "downtown" and there were a lot of people walking around on a gorgeous Spring day. We waited about 5 minutes in line to be seated. On the menu, the soup bar is labeled as the Diet choice. There were 8 soups on the bar thay day: tomato, knoephla, beef Barley, beef noodle, bacon cheeseburger, beer cheese and chili. Next to the soups were toppings like bacon bits, croutons, oyster crackers and 3 different types of breads to dip. We had the quintessential "North Dakota" hospitality with another local seated next to our table but just as involved in our conversation that they might as well have sat next to us. No complaints from me!

Now here's a place I loved. Food was great, server very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was the real catcher. A very old building, which I love,old ND pics of surrounding towns. Lots of them! Just a great place. Highly recommend

The soup bar is excellent many options to choose from. Waitress was very accommodating. Or dinner entrees were cooked properly. The salad is lacking in additions to the lettuce, however, the homemade ranch is very good. The ice cream scoops were huge and the brand of ice cream was delicious

Always a great time, food great, love the soup bar, fast service. Still a five star I rated just because it is a great place and our family loves it. However the last visit we went there and everything went great until after we received our food, I am the type of person that tips according to if our drinks have been topped off or refilled or even asked to be refilled, but this time our waitress forgot about us and I guess to find out went home without telling anyone she had a table. So no refill and the worst part is we had to go ask for a to go tray and we also had to go and ask for our bill after waiting at our table for about 20 minutes after we were done eating.
I noticed that the owner was not there and his number 2 guy which usually is, so maybe this was the difference not sure, but still everything was very delicious just wish I got a refill on my drink but things happen and it is not like we never got our food, cause I have had that happen other places.

This is the heart of America. I love this place and everything it represents.
