Coronado Quivira Museum

There's an awesome variety of stuff in this museum! It starts out with Native American stuff and professes through time and includes Coronado and genuine chain mail from Spanish conquistadors! There is also a basement with more recent relics including a one of a kind car that is aimed to be the last of its kind!! It is free for locals and children and only costs $3 for guest adults! Very fair pricing and great to check out!!

Excellent little museum detailing the history of Lyons and the local area. Judging by the curators expression when I told here I’m from England I don’t think they get many out of town visitors. She gave me a personal tour of the museum explaining lots of local history. Very impressed and was happy to give a donations at the end.

The Coronado Quivira Museum is a free museum for Rice County residents and a low charge for out of the area visitors. This museum highlights the history of Rice County as well as historic living from the days of drugstore fountains to bedside chamber pots. Come see life-size Native American living with an interactive feature, early Spaniards gears as they traveled through the area (don't forget to try on the helmet), and a large salt cart full of the salt mined in Rice County. This museum also has traveling displays throughout the year. Well worth your time to pop in and enjoy a bit of history.

One of the best museums in Kansas in terms of archaeology and knowledgeable staff. Thanks to Verl for giving us a tour and teaching us about the local history.

Who knew Lyons, Kansas has so much awesome history?! The Sante Fe Trail and the Cow Creek Crossing, Chavez murder, Coronado and the Conquistadors, and home to a HUGE population of Native American

They are absolutely jam packed with native american artifacts and history of this area. Best small town museum I've ever visited.

So many artifacts and wonderful displays. My kids loved the hand on exhibits with the buffalo horn and hide. That was their favorite thing
