El Molcajete

This is a "Mom & Pop" shop, or as I like to call it "Tia y Tio" shop. Lol! It is family owned & operated. They are nice, friendly, & make good food. The prices are really decent. You can eat there or do delivery. They have good chips & queso. They make some really fire Super Nachos. Favorite menu item of my friends & I? Pupusas! They make them fresh, & they are normally piping hot! We like the pork & cheese, but there are others they have as well.

Food is good, store is clean, and the owner and staff are always very friendly. The lady working the register made these wonderful jello deserts. My photo doesn't do it justice!

All 3 people in my party ordered the beef and chicken mixed molcajete. The seasoning and spice was on point! The chips were crispy and the salsa was fresh and light. The hot sauce was hot hot!

This place is a hidden gem in town! The burritos are SO delicious! Even the ground beef burrito is so on point! Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in town!

The food is amazing! Totally worth the wait. Everything is fresh and made to order. I had the vegetarian fajita.

Food was flavorful and fresh!! 😋 A lovely mom and pop restaurant. The tortas were amazing!! Worth tipping them super well!! It is probably better to dine in if you don't speak Spanish. Definitely a hidden gem.

This is an amazing place to eat and their food is oh so tasty. The cook is always happy and extremely friendly. Love it. Support this owner and his family business. We need more small family run restaurants like this around Wichita. A++

As the old saying goes, “Never judge a book by its cover“. If you’re on a quest to discover a great place to eat that’s run by caring people, you’ll find it at El Molcajete. The food was wonderful and affordable. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve driven past this place on the way to some other restaurant. SMDH Please help me put this restaurant and these humble people on the map. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent little stop for lunch. The atmosphere was quite and pleasant. The service was perfect and the food made when ordered. Sorry no picture s this maybe we'll stop in again and grab some pictures of the food when I have more time.

Consistently great food. I live right around the corner and they are my go to place!! Everything on the menu is great but the staff keep me coming back great family and a 2$ taco yum I'm on my way!!

So glad to find this jewel of a spot on our road trip. Everything was super fresh, delicious and plentiful. The building is an old drive-in (maybe a Sonic?) and doesn't look like much, but don't let that fool you!

Looks can be deceiving! Well maintained and clean on the inside. I've had take-out twice and decided to dine-in on Saturday. The food is delicious and arrived very quickly. I have no idea why this place isn't packed...

This place has the best Chile Verde. I’m from California and I’m picky about my Chile verde. The sauce has to be just right and this sauce is perfect. I’m in Newton for another month and can’t wait to go back at least two more time before we go back to California. Highly recommended.

Great place to eat, my husband and I like going here it's nice and quiet. They have very good food and a good price.

We've been going to El Molcajete every since it opened, and even before when it was under a different name & owners. We absolutely love the place the food is delicious and the staff are super friendly, and the prices are just right. We eat there almost every week, and will continue going there.

Love this place! Great people and great food!

The food is great here. The building looks like an old Sonic building but very clean. We recommend the pork burrito, posole, super nachos, and lingua tacos. Going to try the menudo next. It's worth the trip for this authentic style food.

This place has some amazing food. If you like cheesy goodness, try the chori pollo. Their red sauce is killer, so if you like spicy, go for red. If you really want something spicy, one of my faves is the (I believe it's called) camarones a la diabla. The staff is very friendly and I'm always happy with the food.

We love this restaurant and the family that runs it. The food is always great and they are always so friendly. This is our go to spot for super nachos!
