A wonderful weekend on a beautiful property with a welcoming community all around.

My partner and I previously visited a men’s only campground in Texas a couple years ago and didn’t enjoy the experience or atmosphere. With work and family we don’t have many opportunities to socialize with like-minded individuals. We were pleased to find Cactus Canyon provided the environment we wanted.

We had just purchased a new camper the week prior and decided to give this place a look for Labor Day weekend. The property is beautiful and spans hundreds of acres, with a beautiful brook cutting through wooded landscape. The campground has a ton of room for tent sites as well as RV/Camper with full hookups.

The thing that really made the visit great were the people. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by waves and conversation, the anxiety of click-like social circles quickly faded. We visited with people of various ages and interests, really enjoying the friendly atmosphere and sense of freedom. I had the pleasure of visiting with both owners, whom were kind and helpful, making sure we felt at home.

We took our e-bikes all over the place and had a ton of fun seeing nature and meeting fellow campers “one with nature”. There are various convenient facilities such as bathrooms and showers throughout the grounds, some show some wear, but overall very pleased by the property, people and our overall stay.

It was a blast! We will definitely be back next year for more fun conversations and adventures. Thank you!

I was there on a non-event week so it was quieter which I enjoyed. The people who spend the season camping there were nice. They had a game night, and the pool seemed to be busy every evening. The guys who run it are really nice. They always remembered my name which is amazing to me because I suck at that. And they make great hamburgers at the Cafe on Saturday evening. I will definitely go again.

Camping during the week gave me time to get used to the surroundings. I picked a spot way back in the primitive campsites under a bunch of trees. I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted, but the time that I was there was very relaxing! I met a handful of "regulars" who made me feel comfortable. I definitely suggest camping here for your next getaway!
And it is dog friendly as long as they are on a leash!

This campground Does exist. It is off the paved road, on a dirt road. It is well kept grounds. The owners live on-site and are very nice and welcoming people. I have been here numerous times over the past few years and will be back again. See their website for directions.

We stayed in the cabin! It was perfect!! Nice laid back environment! And the garden around was nice! Got to wake up to humming birds and Luna moths every morning.

This was our first trip to Cactus Canyon, and we were very satisfied. We will definitely make more trips back. The owners and other campers were very friendly. The campgrounds and all of the facilities were well maintained. The food at the cafe was good and very reasonable. The the cabin rates were very reasonable, but we recommend that, if you go during the summer months, bring along a fan and radio. Also, we suggest that if this is your first trip, driving in, make sure you don’t take a low profile car, the access road into the camp can be a little tricky, dodging some of the large rocks and rough spots on the last mile into the camp. We will definitely take the truck, the next time.
THANKS again guys. We will be back again soon.

The community among men that exists here is refreshing and much needed. I do think that some previous reviewers, on Google and elsewhere, came here with unrealistic expectations. This is a campground, plain and simple. Come here to be wrapped in pristine nature, to be among welcoming, like minded men- not for four star level amenities.
I stayed in the lodge room. It definitely had some cleanliness issues- I’m pretty sure certain things hadn’t been cleaned in some time- but I found it pretty comfortable. The kitchenette was convenient for making meals, the A/C kept the room very cool, and the bed was comfy.
As for the amenities. The pool is lovely, s gathering place. The hot tub is very nice too, but the sauna is just a room with a wall heater- very skippable.
Everybody here is welcoming, kind and communal. I really appreciate this place because it’s a spot for community within a part of the country known for being less than welcoming. Come single or as a couple or group, you’ll be welcomed here!

Cactus Canyon is a very special place for men to be together in brotherhood & nature.
The owners are on site & truly invested in making visitors feel welcome & comfortable.
It is by far my favorite place to take vacation....& I have similar & more convenient places to stay. the Canyon is worth the extra effort & always refreshing.

it is in the boondoggles , so come prepared. that said , they do have a small shop for survival goods.
the restrooms are sufficient & have a great pool area & separate hot tub area.

please leave your baggage & drama at home & go to have a good time. you won't be disappointed.

a special thank you to Chaz ... u da man !

Our second trip to Cactus many years apart. Our first experience was wonderful and we were not let down on our second! Great people and a wonderful space. We were treated, as well as all campers, to a fantastic Cajun shrimp boil by fellow campers Nathan and Bill. Thanks to all for a great weekend.

Been tent camping here for almost 20 years. Never had a bad experience. The owners are the Best, and seasonal campers act like ambassadors to the rest of us. I absolutely recommend!

It's been a couple of years since I last visited CCC. However, I do plan to return. It's a large campground with over 600 acres. It's well off the beaten path. Secluded with lots of privacy.

There's lots to do. Plenty of hiking. Swimming pool. Campfire -- sit around a campfire and chat. Everyone there (both owners and guests) are very friendly and welcoming.

This campground is for men only -- don't show up with the wife and kids.

Well, my first experience was the great flood of 2017 LOL spring bear. Other than all the water, and washed out roads it was a very fantastic first experience. I've been down several times since. And look forward to many more camping Seasons ahead! See you boys July 29th this year.

Very friendly place, lots of Hiking trails (Large property). Draw back is the Dirt & Gravel access road to get from paved road into main entry.
Got into without issues, but when leaving had to move to right to allow another car to pass. Hit rock and tore open side of Storage bins. ;-( over $3k in damages.

Ignore "Dr. Hemsor's" review above. Guessing he's just trying to make trouble because he's a small minded bigot. This place is so far removed from any chance of bumping into the general clothed public that I just cannot believe his story. Also, Google provides you with a link to the campgrounds website that leaves no question as to who they cater to.

This place is beautiful! It's tucked down between two hills with a lovely clear, cool stream running through it. The cabins are typical small backwoods cabins with electric and iffy little refridgerators (bring a cooler). No water in the cabins, but half the fun is the communal showers within an easy walk. The hot tub and pool are both large and kept clean. The owners/hosts are both very sweet and friendly...in fact, EVERYBODY here was incredibly friendly. The tent sites are all nice and shaded with a stream running past the back, well away from any RV noise. There are some basic meals to be had at the poolside grill and/or the lodge, but only during regular mealtime hours, so pack plenty of munchies. Ice is usually available at the office, but stock up on your beer and soda in town as it's a bit of a drive. There are many seasonal guests who are also quick to help you out, chat you up, and make you feel at home.

While most folks gather at the pool or the hot tub, there are a lot of nice trails into the woods to get away from everyone. Lots of flora and fauna to see and photograph. Butterflies everywhere, humming birds, flowers, fish, armadillos, ferns and birds.

Overall, we can't recommend this place enough! Loved it and will be back again soon.

Charles is a wonderful host. There were many guys down during the week but still had fun at the pool and hot tub. Great time for all.

I've been going back to this wonderful place 5 times and counting! The owner/host have made this empire better every year...I go for the back to nature... I call it my "Cricket Thearapy" the stars in the sky are really special and we always are interested with the moon cycle while visiting. The crowd is always friendly and last summer I had the most fun at Xmas in July... the place was balls to the walls with some of the greatest men a person could expect to meet... I always take my iphone/pad and the best thing is NO 4G anywhere... life couldnt be better, how wonderful people have to engage and talk to other people face to face... leave your Growlr and shudder Grindrturd(s) attitude at the gate and just enjoy Sexxxy Summer 2014
