Hilltop Family Restaurant

Can't say enough about our waitress!!!! She was amazing and I only wish I'd taken her name. So attentive and accommodating! She said they'd been in business nearly 76 years!!! Food was good and the atmosphere is full of old-time memories sitting atop a hillside and full of windows to watch outside. I'd go back!

We found this restaurant when I was on the way to Spencer to speak to an audience there. It had fabulous food. The owner is super nice we got to meet him before and there's just a lot of wonderful ladies working there and they take very good care of you. It's family style dining so things come out in bowls you pick your main entree the catfish, the seafood platter is fantastic, they're known for their fried Chicken which my wife gets an absolutely loves. Even my mother got the country ham it's very thick it's very nice ham everything is fantastic their gravy is my favorite thing. We go to speak there three times a year and so we always stop at the hilltop on the way through. I drove my 87 year old mother out for her birthday and she loved it and even wanted to go back. You will not be disappointed here I guarantee

Drove by the sign on our way to the Owen County Fairgrounds. We were earlier than planned so we stopped in for dinner. It was a great experience! Our server, Ms. Sue was the sweetest! The fried chicken was amazing. The whole meal reminded me of the meals I had after church on Sundays back home (Middlesboro, KY).
If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in!! You won’t be sorry.

I worked here in the late 90's and ate there again after all these years. Though ownership has changed hands, the food, service, and setting is the same of not better. You'll get more did than you can eat. Their signature ribeye is outstanding and the fried chicken is terrific. You really can't go wrong. The setting is scenic and relaxing. This truly is a treasure of Owen County and a highlight of Spencer!

Jenny, the server was awesome!!! Prime Rib cook just right and tender. We were visiting from out of town. We went with family and now they will become regulars. They liked it that much.

I love this place. Served family style and great food. I've been here a few times and heard the place just changed hands, but it seems to be consistent. Never had a bad meal here. Highly recommend.

We’ve been to Hilltop many times and always had chicken or fish but tonight I decided to get coconut shrimp and it was absolutely the best I’ve ever had! I think our server Emily - a wonderful server!! - said they hand-bread the coconut shrimp! Wow! Hilltop never disappoints! 👍🏼

Found this place after I visited Cataract Falls. This place is a monthly tradition now. Great quality home cooked meals. You get generous portions and feel right at home. I appreciate how the servers always remember us and food quality stays consistent. Pretty view from the porch or windows. Nice to watch the birds while you wait for your food. It is family style so you get big sides served to share then pick your main entree. Always a great experience! Always telling friends and family.

Heard this was a nice place.. that’s a understatement! It is absolutely amazing relaxing and beautiful! The staff were so friendly and prompt! Food was perfect! Sevice was wonderful and food was delicious and perfect. Reasonable prices and such nice music.. wish there was a dance floor. I see why you need to make reservations but luckily we went at a time they weren’t busy. Everything was fresh and homemade. If your family had good dinners you won’t be disappointed because it’s like going back to Grandmas good cooking! I wish I’d of taken pictures of our delicious food. Sorry but I guarantee you will not be disappointed. My husband is absolutely the best!

This place is so awesome. All my years it's never changed. Service was great and the food is spectacular. Also the only place I know that serves persimmon pudding.

Beautiful view, friendly people, absolutely delicious food and so much food!!!! Prices were reasonable and the casual atmosphere was nice. This was our 1st time here even though we have driven by 100 times but it will not be our last. Highly recommend!!!!

Oh, my!! Gotta come back again! Took a group of 16 here. Service was perfect for our group size. To die for...... Fried Chicken, 1lb Ribye, Liver & Onions, Catfish, Perch and the Cobblers!! Family style Sides were delicious. No bland food here. Oh, did I mention the FRIED CHICKEN...... to die for!!
