Sleeping Bear Retreat

I love this campground! I visited on a hot weekend in July with my boyfriend. We opted for the camp site with electricity. It was the perfect amount of space for us, had a plug at the edge of the space, a picnic table, and fire pit. It was quiet the weekend we visited and we were one of the few campers there. The campground itself was well maintained and had several tipis and other structures on site. The place had a lot of charm and soul that made me enjoy my stay even more. It's close by to various hiking options as well as amenities of French Lick bars, restaurants, and casino. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

It's such a fun place we had it to ourselves for a few days 😌 it was quiet and relaxing.
The owner was very friendly and loved when Dusty the dog would come and visit...lol
My girls loved the fishing. We caught quite a few.
We stayed in the wagon it was nice having cool air at the end of the day!!
We can't wait to plan another trip...

We had an amazing stay at sleeping bear retreat. We stayed in the covered wagon it was an amazing experience. So much to do there. My family will be back again and hope to make it a yearly visit.

The owner, Hank, was very friendly. This place is laid-back and unstructured. Just be respectful as a guest and clean up after yourself!

Since it’s the off-season and we were blessed with great weather in November, I decided to rent the covered wagon. Since I was alone it almost seemed like a little too much room, but it was amazingly quiet! And heated!! Think of it as camping with heat and you’ll love it. It’s a semi permanent tent, so bring plenty of bedding. There’s also air conditioning, however I did not need that in November.

There’s plenty of hot water at the shower house, which was clean and spacious. I wish I had discovered this rustic campground during the warmer months. I didn’t have time to hike, but there are maps that show the trails. I’ll definitely be back if we get more mild weather this winter if Sleeping Bear is open in the winter months.

Nice place right between French Lick resort and Patoka lake. Spacious spots for camping and few tepees to book as well. The owner is very responsive.
I enjoyed the stay. It was nice and quiet, we were able to gaze at the starts too.
Recommend for a small primitive style vacation.

An extremely beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. I will be returning and i highly recommend this place to families, couples, anyone who wishes to "just kick back and relax". Very polite people and very clean environment. Thank everyone at Sleeping Bear!!! P.S. the zombie hunt and other attractions are out of this world! Im a steady nerve kinda guy and they actually made me jump on more than one occasion!!!!

What you won't find on the website or map 8s how unique this place is. Of you go hit the trails IF your lucky enough you will find an ancient enclosure. The indigenous people once called this area home and if your really lucky you'll spot an actual mound itself. Don't sleep on Sleeping Bear it's a wonderful experience!!

We stayed here for the weekend... Flipping amazing place best i have ever camped at free firewood, giant chess game, paintball, trails, fossil digging pond to swim and fish 9 disc hole course volleyball net tons of space pet friendly... The owners are awesome brand.new showers and toilets i def. Will be going back 10 out of 5 stars thanks guys for the awesome time josh utke YOU MUST CAMP HERE ITS AWESOME

Wonderful experience. Found by accident. Owners very friendly . Things to do and quiet and relaxing.
Bathrooms was a huge plus very clean.

Wonderful owners with super friendly dogs! Highly recommend! The teepees are amazing to stay in. They even put on spooky trail in October and decorate the grounds.
