Acropolis Restaurant and Catering

This place has a big menu, but I honestly do not know how anything taste other than the Gyro platter, it is unbelievable. They do a little crispy thing around the edges of the gyro meat to make it really good. Comes with a large side I always go fries my wife likes to get the beets. And they’re good I don’t know if they’re fries good, but they’re good. And then you always have to get the baklava when it’s over. Go ahead and splurge and get two servings, you don’t wanna share it once it gets going.

My wife and I visited the Acropolis Restaurant to have a rather nice brunch whilst running around Evansville. Upon arrival, the building looked to be in good repair and the parking lot around it was very clean and not crowded. Once we entered, I gave the host a warm, mask muffled, "Yassas!" (γειά σας! - Greek for 'Hello' - formally). Unfortunately, the gentleman was slightly lost to say the least. You could say that I was speaking Greek to him! (insert rim shot!) The restaurant was slightly dim, but I felt that it added to the Mediterranean feel with all of the relics, paintings, sculptures, and décor. Not to mention the tile designs that they had on the floors and walls, simply beautiful! There is of course, fantastic traditional and modern Greek music playing over the restaurant speakers. It wasn't too loud to be disruptive and it wasn't too quiet to not be pleasantly noticed either. We were seated almost immediately with no waiting. Our table was clean and disinfected via covid-19 regulations and was next to a window which was also clean, sill included. The flooring was well swept, not sticky, and had no mop residue. The restroom (men's) was a little less lighted than I would prefer, smelled OK, not great, but you could tell that it was a restroom. The floors appeared clean and free of debris, and there was plenty of soap and paper towels. The waiter was very attentive, but not overbearing. We had a deluge of separate dishes that seemed to have arrived from Greece itself! The flavors were astounding; aromas engulfed you senses; and the visual presentation caused anticipatory salivation! We enjoyed everything from the gyros (yee-ro, the 'g' is not pronounced in Greek) platter to the smothered lamb shanks, and as always, a delicious shot of Ouzo to top it off! If you don't like licorice (black ropes), you won't like this liquor! The have plenty of other spirits and wines to compliment your meal. The PQA for this meal was great. We received a generous portion of food, that was very pleasing to the palate, and it was all at an affordable price. It is always worth the time of day to visit this little sliver of Greece that we have here in Evansville! We will be back soon, eager to satiate our hunger for Greek cuisine! Opa!!!

This a very nice place to have a cozy, romantic date night with your S/O. The food is exquisite and fairly priced. The waitstaff are very professional and attentive. The drinks are top-notch. Our waiter, Nicholas, went above and beyond to make our first visit wonderful.

Everything was excellent. I don't know how many times I've driven past this place thinking it was more expensive than it is. The lunch prices very were reasonable, and the food was amazing. A particular picky eater in our group actually liked the dolmades (grape leaves), and he never likes those unless they're his grandmother's authentic recipe.

The food is delicious and the wait staff is friendly. This is not the place to go for dinner if you are in a hurry most nights. Sometimes the service is slow but the food is always worth the wait.

Best gyros tortellini ever! The Greek salad is perfect and save room for dessert!

Had an adult birthday gathering and we couldn't have been more pleased. The food was wonderful. The decor is lovely and there is plenty of room so you're not crowded up. We had such a great waitress! Her name is Dannie Sanders and she has a sweet demeanor and was very attentive to our needs. We will come back and ask for Dannie to wait on us again.

Greek greatness! The hummus, pita, tortellini and dolmades were excellent! Definitely a place to stop by and enjoy.

The food was amazing! I had ordered the Lamb Shanks with (2) side order of seasoned rice and asparagus along with a side order of creamy garlic sauce. The lamb was magnificent. It was all delicious! This is the second time I've ever eaten lamb and would highly recommend it!!!

Our server was very friendly. He checked on us but wasn't overbearing about it. Service was fast and couldn't complain one bit about it.

I highly recommend this place and would come back again!

Gorgeous upstairs for private parties. Great for your wedding

I've only been here twice, but I've loved it both times! First time was in 2017, shortly after I had returned from a mission trip to Greece. The 2nd time was the day in which I'm writing this review. Both times I got the tortellini pasta, which comes with either chicken or lamb (gyro version). It was very scrumptious, and I would definitely order it again. On top of that, the waitress we had was phenomenal! Couldn't have asked for a friendlier person to wait on us. If you're looking for a new place to get food, definitely give this place a try!

Doris and staff did it again. Valentine's day with my wife a success. Excellent food and service. Great menus selections and explanations of dishes if you didn't know what you were seeing. Family style meal offered a larger selection for V day guests.. dessert included!
My wife enjoyed her first visit. We will be going back.

This is the type of place that is not too fancy but certainly fancy enough to spend a bit of time eating and drinking. Our waitress was very good and brought us samples of wine. WE enjoyed our meals, moussaka and risotto with shrimp, were both very good. Overall be had a good time and room left for ice cream..

The food was amazing. my party had the big fat Greek dinner and it was really good. the price ended up costing less than it would have if we had ordered everything individually. The dining wasn't very full, but we went at lunch on a Monday. Service was polite and prompt. Our server Brittney was great. Planning to go back soon.

Saw the truck today and thought I’d stop by and I was so pleased I did. Food was incredible, very fast, and the cooks inside were exceedingly kind. You guys really made my day, thank you so much!

The food was good. I am no expert on Greek food but I liked my gyro platter and the Greek sampler was worth the try. My favorite thing was that they brought me a whole flute style pitcher when I ordered my tea. I love this.

Excellent food and service-I have been coming here for 15 years now. I gave up red meat years ago, and the only thing I miss is the Acropolis' divine gyros. They are fantastic, but they have a variety of vegetarian dishes too. The pita is fantastic, and the roasted potatoes are too. Really you can't go wrong with an order. My whole family can eat here--the pescatarian, low-sodium, no red meat, and low sugar dieters all find something awesome. I would also recommend their pomegranate martini--what's more Greek than that? :)

Love love love this place. My husband and I first went there for our anniversary. And my sister had never been there so I took her there for a girl's day. The waitress was amazing. And the food was phenomenal as always.

We enjoy our lunch. Very nice room. Our waitress was the very best.Laine was the best. She waited on 8 of us Got all of our foods correct. Filled our drinks as needed. Very friendly. We will ask for Laine next time. Everyone was very happy with their selection. We ate steak, chicken, pork chop and hamburger. Red beets, potatoes, french fries brocolli. Our salad were fresh and very good.
The coffee was really good .Thanks for the clean quiet room.

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was courteous/timely mannered. My Girlfriend enjoyed her first birthday dinner there. She even loved the margarita I got her lol. Good Times...
