The Maples Rest Area

End of June 2023: The area was packed but well maintained. I was the surprised the bathrooms were clean and didn't smell with how many people were coming in / out. (Soap, water, air dryers and flushing toilets)

A recent fire has changed the landscape from the previous shady, green pictures to a dry and and sunny spot - but it's still nice considering. (Looks like the vending changed as well)

Great rest area! Easy in and out with clean restrooms, back up port a potty’s and a pet area plus a few pic nic tables. Some parking for trailers, no big rigs though.

Great rest stop and stopping point on our trip from Portland to Bend, OR. Easy parking, very clean bathrooms, and huge areas for the dogs.

Clean bathrooms! I'm not sure if they will be when you get there, but they were while we were here. There is plenty of room to let the pets out for some exercise.

This is a newer rest area. Really nicely kept, good amount of restrooms, and lots of walking space to let yourself and the dogs stretch. Need more vending options though.

Great rest stop! Every time I come over the mountain I stop here to stretch my legs and let the dogs do the same. Love that its a pet friendly rest stop. Also a lot cleaner than the average rest stop. Tons of parking. Never have to wait in line for a toilet or sink.

Very nice rest area it's my favorite

Honestly, one of the better rest stops I've been to. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly, there's a large open grassy area for dogs and even two vending machines if you feel the need for a mid journey snack.

Great safe spot to stop on a trip. Private family bathroom and plenty of room to stretch your legs.

Love this place to get out and let the dogs stretch their legs. Also super safe and quiet when you need to rest up before going up over the pass. Bathrooms are super clean and heated which is a plus.

This is a great test stop on the way to Detroit Dam and all points east.

The last few times I've stopped here it has been very clean, which hasn't always been the case. The flaggers are right in that area right now due to the clean up after last year's devastating forest fires. Those workers are working so hard to get everything back to normal. I appreciate their hard work in getting this job done! It must be a hard job to do and they are doing a great job! If you are one of these workers, or know someone who is, thank you for all of your hard work day in, day out, to get us all as close to normal as possible.

Great rest area. Place is clean. Plenty of parking. A huge area for the fur babies to play and use the restroom. Perfect simple rest area to do your business, stretch from a long drive and go.

For a rest stop this far from population centers, it is quite nice. Clean bathrooms, an area to walk dogs, and working - as of 12/24/18 - vending machines with both snacks and drinks.

Great rest area for a trip up the canyon even when very busy! On a non pandemic day I'm sure would be a coffee and snack trailer there! Everyone was polite and friendly.

Decent rest stop, generally clean, usually has people there, but never too busy. I think the last time I passed by it was still burnt out by the fires (end of Sept 2021).

Simple rest area. There aren't any stores here. However I did see some vending machines from a distance. Not sure if they had anything good in them. It's basically a simple rest stop for people who are driving long distances.
