St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park

We worked remotely from the state of Georgia with Phillip Sanchez at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. My mother-in-laws ashes were transferred from Georgia to the cemetery for interment next to her deceased husband. Mr. Sanchez was great to work with, taking delivery of the cremains, seeing that they were properly interred, and sending us photos of the interment process. Subsequently, he designed the grave marker to match the marker already in place for my father-in-law, improving the appearance of the two markers. We were able to handle all this from Georgia via phone and email correspondence with Mr. Sanchez. He was responsive to our wishes, offered excellent options to choose from, and was most sensitive to our needs as we worked through the process. We are so thankful for the treatment and service we received from Mr. Sanchez and St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Staff at this cemetery have been so kind and patient as we work through the tough experience of burying my parents.
The physical setting is peaceful and close to the places we often go.

Most of my family are buried here, I have lived in Granger my whole life and spent lots of time at the cemetery. I have always found it so peaceful and well maintained for most of the time till recently. The fences around the property are completely a mess down Cleveland road. This is what people see driving by. Several yrs ago there were homeless living in the back part where they store the vaults. I reported to the office and they were not successful at ridding of that situation. People pay tons of money to have their loved ones layed to rest and having mentally ill individuals should not be an issue while visiting.I was there today and checked out the back area and there are more tarps and trash everywhere. This needs to be dealt with immediately. This is not for a homeless encampment. Please deal with Mishawaka police to take care of this. Completely unacceptable. The money is coming in and it needs to be invested back into the property not lining the pockets of the out of state owners. Very disappointed . As I make plans for my immediate family, I am forced to possibly look elsewhere and it's heartbreaking the thought of not being with my awesome grandparents. Please take care of this gem it's all repairable.

My husband and I each own a plot there. I have called them every year for 3 years now about fixing that dilapidated fence which is an eyesore all the way from the entrance to Main St. One excuse was, that the deer do it. The next excuse is that the guy they hired had a health issue. I regret choosing them.

The cemetery is not well kept. My parents have been buried there for a very long time. I went today and there were no trash buckets and no water available. A note on the water spicket says you have to go to the office to get water. How inconvenient. The first time I called to complain, they said due to covid they were short on help. Well, covid is well over so what is the next excuse? This used to be so well taken care of. Each year it does to get worse. There is dead brush and tree limbs laying around. The only spot that looks decent is at the chapel building where funerals take place. A facade for the poor families of the deceased.

My wife and her parents are buried at the south end of the pond, last fall they put in a drain to help with the flooding. Since then there have been piles of dirt left sitting there, looks absolutely horrible. Had an internment near our headstones, back filled with gravel and chunks of asphalt, no way grass will ever grow. So after dodging all the pot holes to get to our area all I have to look at is piles of dirt gravel and chunks of asphalt. I have asked several times to get this fixed, nope nothing now I am not even sure anyone other than office staff work there

I'd give zero stars if I could. The grounds are a mess - grounds crew running into and damaging memorials, niches broken into just this year, fencing in dire need of replacement, and potholes galore throughout the cemetery. Their prices constantly increase (at least double of nearby competition) yet no work ever seems to be done to maintain the space. It appears this corporately-ran location is more interested in profits than taking care of the families who keep them in business. I'd highly recommend going somewhere else and avoiding any and all nearby locations (St. Joseph Valley, Highland/Riverview, and Chapel Hill). Awful place ran by greed-hungry people.

Roads and fences are in TERRIBLE shape. Headstones all buried. Someone needs to take care of this place. Staff was rude and didn’t seem to care when these concerns were voiced. Tried to charge me cash only to help find my loved one. That didn’t feel right.

No way to find my grandfather’s grave. No help.
