Fatbird

This was my first time here at Fatbird and I was thoroughly impressed. My husband and I came during Restaurant Week and we both got the JFC (Japanese Fried Chicken) sandwich with chips and Mac&cheese.
The sandwich was a generous size, full of delicious ingredients. The chashu pork was so tender, with crispy caramelized edges. The sandwich itself was a bit spicy, which complemented the creamy mayo sauce.
The mac&cheese had great flavor, herbaceous from the added thyme.
The service was great, the atmosphere is chill and kind of speakeasy vibes. Next time we will try the cocktails too!
All in all, we loved our experience and we highly recommend trying Fatbird during Restaurant Week.

Such a great experience from a restaurant I had no idea about. Our service was great. She knew to spilt the checks without even asking, which was amazing awareness I had rarely experienced from servers. For those like myself who prefer non-alcoholic beverages, they have punch that uses zero proof rum, whisky, or gin depending on the beverages. And the food was very complex but incredibly tasty. Highly recommend among South Bend restaurants.

My son and daughter-in-law chose Fatbird to have their rehearsal dinner, and I couldn't be any happier with how the evening turned out! Lindsey had everything set up perfectly. All of the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The food and beverages were delicious too. Thank you so much! I'll be visiting next time I'm in town. ❤

Really good food, not just "nuked entrees" off the local wholesalers truck, like most places. Actually cooked & seasoned on site. Awsm menu, stuff ya never heard of & plenty you know. Chicken is like the best in Indiana!

Check this place out! Right around the corner from the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend and it is dang good! There is seating outside to enjoy on those cool summer nights. The food is simply delicious. We had the chicken sandwich and the hamburger and we rave about it, hot, juicy, and very tasty. Their sides are also very good. We had the mac and cheese and cole slaw…all I can say is that they both had so much flavor. The two bartenders we engaged with were friendly, patient, and simply put—fun! Mike was our guy and we really enjoyed his conversation. Go to this joint. You won’t be disappointed!

For a while now, I’ve heard about how good this place was. Finally, I had the opportunity to try it and it did not disappoint. Everything is super delicious and bursting with flavor. It might not be the healthiest meal of your week but it will definitely be one of the best. I was particularly surprised at how much I enjoyed the addition of salami to the Cuban sandwich. It adds a little kick that really works. I will definitely be back in the future.

So happy we stopped here! The best part? All of our food was delicious. It tasted fresh and had a homemade feel to it. We got fried chicken, mac & cheese, Cuban sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, jambalaya, mashed potatoes and the waffles/chicken/watermelon dishes. Each dish came with a side and there wasn’t anything we didn’t like. I also enjoyed my peach tea and our waitress was so nice. The worst part? Honestly, can’t add much. They didn’t have a parking lot it we found street parking not too far. Stop by if you can! No breakfast by the way.

Ok who thought southern food belonged in northern Indiana? I don't know but I'm sure glad they did. Fresh made, house styled drinks that have a depth of flavor that will impress. Chicken, Waffles, and Watermelon, umm what....omg delicious. Red beans and rice was spot on with some andouilli sausage. A little heat but so flavorful. The mac and cheese and Maque Choux were leveled with varying flavors. I've officially had my socks knocked off. If you like food, like me, do yourself a favor and go to Fatbirds, at least once a week. The rarity of something that is outside the box needs to be talked about. I'm shouting from the rooftops, "GO TO FATBIRDS, AND GO HUNGRY"!!!

Fatbird is SUCH a great restaurant! Weve gone here the last few years for my husbands birthday and we are NEVER disappointed! The food is reasonably priced and absolutely DELICIOUS! The pimento cheese appetizer is our favorite and is incredible. The jambalaya is to die for. The burger and chicken sandwiches are delicious. The Mac and cheese is addicting. All of the food here is outstanding and the staff is super friendly, kind, helpful, and attentive. I absolutely recommend trying Fatbird. You wont regret it!

Well smack my grandpappy, this place is that FREAKING AMAZING! The atmosphere, just ...wow, quaint antique tables- all different styles, grandma's dishes, delicious, frothy sweet and savory hand shaken cocktails with a solid pour, absolutely amazing staff, everyone- the bartenders *chef's kiss* like watching a well oiled machine. Dinner, ohhh dinner, what a treat! I had the bacon cheeseburger, no pimento cheese and this... this is a burger I will think about from time to time longingly. I had the potato salad as my one side and mmm, mm. What a flavor combination these two were. Delicious. Nothing like it anywhere in South Bend region. Word is they grind their own beef in house. And it wouldn't be a night on the town without desert. They tried to woo me with all their chocolatey goodness but I chose the creme brulee cheesecake and what a treat this was with a lovely mint garnish. Divine. Kudos @Fatbird

the pickles they put in their sandwiches and burgers are THICK. All the sides have a heavy southern influence and might not be exactly what you are expecting, but they are good none the less! i would heavily recommend getting a chicken sandwich, everyone at the table wished they had ordered one after trying a bite 😁

I've been here a few times and have always received great service, tasty food, and wonderful drinks. The last time I was there with my sisters, they weren't incredibly busy so the bartender made me a smoky mezcal old fashioned, and it was phenomenal! The service here really has been some of the best I've received at any restaurant.

Absolutely the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Chicken was tasty. Waffles were crispy outside and tender and fluffy inside with a spicy maple syrup but by far the best bite came from the watermelon it came with. Infused with sweet tea and champagne and awesomeness. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was nice. It's a shame we live 2½ hrs away as we just stopped in for dinner on our way home up to Grand Rapids from Tennessee but we will have to remember to stop in again when we're in the area.

The menu selection isn't overwhelming. My son had a burger and my boyfriend had a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. No complaints from either in fact my boyfriend raved about the perfect spice palette on the sandwich. Be sure to try the Mac n cheese too!!

The chicken sandwiches are terrific! The chicken was tender and most. My wife had the Murica with potato salad. She loved the potato salad! My son and daughter had the kids hamburger and they said it was one of the best they have had. I got the Nashville chicken sandwich, it was so good. It has some heat, but not too much. We got two biscuits and they did not last long. They were delicious!

Fat Bird has a very good menu. I really like the wings, the vinegar chicken and the burger. Whenever I am in town I eat there at least once.

The food here was amazing! I got the Red beans and rice, my wife got the Nashville chicken, and our kids shared the fried wings. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Our kids cleaned the fried wings to the bone (literally). If you are looking for great food stop at this local restaurant and support a local business.

My favorite place to eat in South Bend. I go here every time I arrive or leave town. The Nashville is my favorite with a side of Mac and cheese. I’ve eaten all their sides and each is as delightful as the last in their own way. Seriously, try all the sides!

It is one thing to be a great restaurant. It is another to be consistently great. The thing I love about Fatbird is that it is consistent. Every time I eat there it is the same delicious experience. I keep going back and take everyone who visits me there.

We had a wonderful lunch at Fatbird! I had the chicken and waffles, long cooked green beans, coleslaw and infused watermelon chunks! My wife had the fried snapper sandwich with potato salad. Everything was full of flavor! Highly recommend!

Returned a month later to try the shrimp po’ boy! Delicious! Check it out!

Food was delicious. It tasted like it was all made from scratch, which is exactly what we were looking for. The portions felt a little small for the price, but the quality of the food was great.

Loved everything about it! Can't wait to go back. My husband loves Nashville Hot Chicken and it was perfect. Great drinks, atmosphere a d service.
