Svirzh Castle

Really nice place even if the weather is bad. Castle is in good shape, there is no furniture, but overall it is quite a good place to spend a couple of hours. It's near a very beautiful lake, and you can bring your blanket for small picnic near it. It's not big, but it has quite interesting story. Try to call in advance for some excursion. Definitely will come back)

The castle is being partially restored. The excursion is interesting. The view is beautiful. Easy to get to. Recommend visiting.

Very beautiful place. Not only the castle, but the landscape around it. One of the best preserved castles around. Restoration is underway but many internal rooms are open to the public.

Works on schedulle, not working on public holidays. Ncely maintained and have majority fortifications still in good condition.

Svirz Castle is a fortified aristocratic residence in Svirzh, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine. It was originally built by the Świrski noble family in the 15th century. Inside the castle is a small church dating from 1546. The stronghold was completely rebuilt in the 17th century at the behest of its new owner, Count Aleksander Cetner. It is believed that General Paweł Grodzicki was responsible for the modernisation of the castle's fortifications.

Though surrounded on all sides by moats, lakes, and marshes, the fort was taken by the rebellious Cossacks on several occasions. In 1648, the Turks set it on fire; they were less successful during the Lwow raid of 1672. The castle stood in ruins for many years. It was restored in 1907, only to be devastated by fire in 1914. Rebuilding and restoration have occurred on several occasions since.

Awesome castle. My wife and I and friends, were able to enjoy ourselves when at the special convention of Jehovah's witnesses in liviv Ukraine.

It is secret place. Locals know only.

5 stars in advance. Once the Swirzh castle gets renovated it'll be the wonderful touristic attraction.

Always closed. No way to get inside. But the surrounding lake and park is very good!
