It was around 2 pm (14:00), and it gets dark around 4 pm (16:00). I took the local bus down to the park, a trip over an hour in length. 10 hryvnia (less than 40 cents). Crowded, standing room only, and fearful I wouldn't get there before dark. But I got there with ample time to explore the park, even with a sky that threatened rain. What made the park most memorable was that so many locals were there. I sort of expected it to be largely vacant, but there were families there having loads of fun, as well as older folks reminiscing. One gentleman with a cane asked me something in either Ukrainian or Russian, and all I could do was say, sorry, I'm American. He smiled and said "хорошо," and gave an affectionate thumbs up. Charming. I think he pretty much made my day.
The contents of the park are old tanks, a submarine (!!!), a ship, and myriad other articles of warfare from WWII (aka The Great Patriotic War) including a beautiful Polikarpov I-16 (И-16).
It eventually started getting dark, and it began to drizzle, so I figured out how to return to the city centre, but what a really nice excursion!

Great Place to Visit with Kids in Odessa . Bit out side but Uber Taxi will take you there no problem .
After the Visit go directly to the beach across the with a nice resturant there.

Loved this place. Sort of half amusement park and half museum. The museum was free. As an English speaker you may need to download Google translate to understand what is going on as everything is in Russian. Free WiFi and numerous coffee stalls. No central building to wander into, everything was outside.

A beautiful park-museum. The history of the defense of Odessa during the Second World War. I first visited it in the 70s as a child. On the Day of the Liberation of Odessa and Victory Day, there are always festive events, soldier's porridge from the field kitchen. Now we have added a lot of attractions for children. I am glad that the city authorities did not give the territory of this beautiful museum for construction of residential complexes.

Free and off the beaten path. Nice to see WWII history. I went with a friend and we had a good time. If you have a family, you can bring your children. There are tons of recreational activities for kids to enjoy.

Unique memorial of weapons and technical equipment used by Soviet Army at WWII. Submarine A615 looks quite impressive even nowadays. Even though showpieces are soon 100 years old, it gives an impression how the War was going on decades ago. Never again...

Nature. Great spot to get away from urban city. Walking, jogging, biking, walking your dog. Even have seen horse riding. Good place for kids.

One of the must see places in Odessa.
This is a site with the history of WWII, heroic stand against german army.
This site is surrounded by oak wood forest with mice path among the trees.
