Mbozi Meteorite

Mbozi meteorite is the one of the eighth largest meteorite in the World! The Meteor was discovered in Mbozi District by Early Late Blacksmith Known as Haule and later by the outsider and documented in 1930

It is in South West Slopes, Marengi, in the Songwe Region, which is about 70kM from Mbeya. The Meteorite is believed to fall thousands of years ago, and it's estimated to be 12 tonnes, being among the 10 heaviest meteorites in the world (8th in the world and 2nd in Africa). The Meteorite is composed of Iron 90%, Nickel 8.69% and others, copper,sulphur, and phosphorus.

The place is one of the nice places to be visited and can be easily accessible.

Cool place... There are two places in the World with this historical sites which are Mbozi in Tanzania and Arizona in USA.

On our way from Mbeya Town to Songwe Refion we enjoyed seeing the coffee farms, Extraordinary Snenaries and other agricultural activities

The Mbozi meteorite is now under Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority.

Mbozi Meteorite is a nice place to visit. You will be able to observe closely the heavenly object said to fall from the sky many years ago.

This makes Tanzania to keep being an african country with many deferent amazing features exists the meteorite stricked to this place many years ago and it was believed to be a magical factor that brought it down.traditional people of this place began to worshipon this stone due to ignorance they had. Currently it's the biggest meteorites that exist in the whole world making Tanzania proud. Something bad is that the government doesn't care about this although it earns foreign curency through it. The area around isn't well bult since there are no five star hotel near this place infact tourists who visit here have to be well prepared to return back to mbozi town here where they can get access to hotels and other facilities.something amezing with this meteorite is its sound once you hit it,it realy sounds good.most of people all over the world who would like to see a meteorite prefers to at this place regardless of existence of meteorites in other places in the world.Surely its a good place to learn

Its quite a place to be,its just 70 kms from Mbeya City center and 11 kms from Mlowo for those who are coming from Tunduma border.Mbozi Meteorite can be reached after entrances fees being cleared.There are no hotels or restaurant nearby so i advise pack your light meals, bites,water and other refreshments.You can camp there is electricity and water all the time.

Amazing place,historical stone with extra ordinary characteristics like 5 different minerals, it sound hollow if hitted with a stone and never get warm if sun heated.
