The Overhang

What a place.. It's a gem, a hidden paradise.
Beautiful drive (around 3 kms) to this place. You will feel you are driving in between a forest.
Amazing staff to greet you at reception.
We stayed at The Nest. This was not a hotel but a home away from home. Full Kitchen, living room and comfortable bedroom. The best part was the verandah.

You can walk or cycle inside their property. Beautiful and clean swimming pool.

Small but nice restaurant named Anderson bar. Limited choices but delicious food.

Clean and pristine beach. The walkway to the beach was also wonderful.

Me, my wife and my daughter enjoyed our stay there. My daughter did not want to go back.

Hidden paradise. Absolutely stunning views. We stayed in the Hideaway. Full kitchen. So even though the food was amazing, definitely bring snacks and drinks and even food to cook, if you like. Top-notch customer service. Clean. Pristine beaches. Quiet. Relaxing. We will be going back again and again.

A very good and comfortable place to enjoy with your loved ones

The Overhang is a gem hidden away in Kigamboni about 1 hour outside of Dar es Salaam, and anyone who finds this gem will be glad they looked for it. I stayed at the Boat House and had the most jaw dropping outlook over the Indian Ocean. Everything from the beach access to the drinks to the entertainment to the food was perfect. It makes for the perfect getaway for couples and families who want to escape the tumult of Dar to the sanctuary of clear skies, exquisite beaches and quiet relaxation. Although Zanzibar often steals the spotlight for Tanzanian beach getaways, the Overhang reminded me that mainland Tanzania's coast is just as remarkable as her island sister.

Stayed at one of the beach tents and it was absolutely magical. Just the right amount of calm I needed.

A little piece of paradise close to Dar es Salaam. All the cabins have a great view of the Indian Ocean. Very private, quiet, and excellent to recharge your good vibes. The sushi on Saturdays is not to be missed. Family friendly.

Its very nice place. Its great for couples, but its cool place for group as well. There are 2 beaches which are waiting just for you... we stayed there for 3 nights and didn't meet more than 10 people on both beaches. Beaches are clean and nice. View is spectacular especially when you wake up in a morning. We brought our own food, but I think you can easily order groceries. We asked just for fruit and we got so much fruit just for 5 EUR. The place was AMAZING.

Very quite, issa place time stand still

The Overhang is by far one of my favourite places in Tanzania. I have stayed at The Boathouse and the Hideaway and they are both stunning. Stunning houses, beautifully thought out and decorated. The views are gorgeous and the location is beautiful. You'll fall asleep to the sound of waves, and you'll be surrounded by the sea wherever you look.
It's not the cheapest place to stay but you can bring your own food and drinks, making it more affordable and if you can afford it, it's definitely worth it.

You know when people say to you need to "step off"...This is it.
Clean modern perks in tanzi beach style housing with a shared pool. Bar and view in the middle. Walk the beaches, take in everything you need to wash that urban mess out of your head. Love it.

Excellent place to relax and not too far from Dar es Salaam.
Serene atmosphere in undisturbed nature

Truly an exceptional getaway. Every detail has been considered, down to an ice cream scoop in the kitchen! The views are unparalleled, the decor gorgeous and the beds comfortable. What more could you ask for?

This place will really relieve you off your weekly stress if you wanna spend the whole weekend there, it's really great peacful and the staff are really welcoming. The view from there is epic. I'd recommend this place to anyone in dar or if you want to visit Dar
