In January, we visited a historically site in the city. While the front of the temple was under renovation, we could still enter to pay respects to the Buddha inside.

An old Kuan Yin Temple that was moved to its current location in 1786 (乾隆51年). It was fully restored after the 1999 921 earthquake.
Currently, the forward temple building and the performance stage (戏台) are under restoration.
The wooden carvings and drawings on the roof structures are exquisite. Don't miss them while visiting this temple.

The temple provides a peaceful, serene Buddhist and Taoist environments, while its inner gates and aisles show the elegance of the Chinese architecture and building. The temple also has its uniqueness in red-color bricks for wall, floor, etc.

The temple has a quite outer courtyard, while its inner courtyard is relatively smaller, and worship hall is even smaller. These are rather different from traditional Buddhist or Taoist temples which emphasize relatively similar size in worship halls and inner court yard.

The temple has just finished its Entrance Gates' renovation and preservation project, and it provides detailed documentation and explanation for the project development.

The temple also has a beautiful rear garden and pond which has numerous turtle, a symbol of long life for various Chinese religions.

The Temple, as of August 2022, is open till 08PM, and the Temple does show its beauty at night, when the Temple's lanterns do give quiet, simple, stylish view.

The Temple of Fine-Art! Amazing art crafts contained in this near 300 year old temple, you will find art in ever single inch of details, and it assembles into a whole universe itself.

Time, wars, insects, human force, earthquakes, typhoons, all can not destroy this dao temple, instead they strengthener it.

A real authentic heritage of Taiwanese/Chinese culture for local religion. Most parts of the decorations are kept intact.

Longshan Temple is without a doubt one of the most beautiful temples I've seen in Taiwan, even though it's not flashy, as Chinese temples often are. Longshan Temple commands respect because of it's age and charming character. Its raw wood details are simply breathtaking. This 200-year-old wood temple fits perfectly into the Kyoto-like setting of Lukang. One of the most amazing features about this historic temple is it's wood rotunda-like dome. This dome is made of crisscrossing wood pieces resembling layered Jenga blocks, and its held together with Lincoln-log-type fittings---without the use of a single nail. This historical site is not to be missed during a visit to the beautiful town of Lukang.

Beautiful, old Buddhist Temple. Very peaceful and great place for taking photos. They also have some free Buddhist information and wall hangings. There are about a dozen other temples within walking distance of this one, so you can make a day, or an afternoon of walking around and takings photos.
