Wufeng Lin Family Garden

As someone who loves history, this place is a must go. The ticket price is a little on the expensive side compared to other local museum, but they have a spacious area to sightsee. The employees are all friendly and welcoming, and were very insightful with any question you may have. They have the only surviving theatre area made from wood as well, which in my opinion, is quite interesting. The architecture and symbolism are great and really unique. It can be a little bit warm during the summer but you will spend most of the sightseeing inside or at least under a roof, so no worries. Parking within the area can be a little expensive since it’s a tourist area too, so keep in mind.

Beautiful historical manoir. We bought a night tour package, including activities such as; making dragon candies, making prints and classical Chinese music theatre. Great experience with amazing staffs. Definitely worth a visit!

I admit that I am not much into culture but I was presently surprised how much I liked this place. It shows how people lived before while also having a modern restaurant along with an opera singer there. Not bad.

A cultural experience that's worth visiting. I've seen quite a few family houses and this one has it all! And as a bonus, it's the only one (afaik) with a giant theater stage.
I highly recommend to try to get the night tour, because once the sun sets, this place turns into a magical ancient experience.

I got lucky as the tour was organized by our language learning center, but they told us they do night tours about once a month. Not sure if it's possible for everyone, but we also made our own fans and could try out old traditional clothes.

Was very surprised to see such an interesting and historically significant place like this, especially since I've never really heard of it. Tour guide told us this is the largest mansion complex in all of Taiwan, and it even includes original painted corridors from the Qing Dynasty, something you're hard-pressed to find in mainland China, where most original sites were destroyed during the cultural revolution. Definitely recommend this site!

It is a beautiful place to learn about Taiwan history and culture. from Taichung Station you can take bus no.200 and get off at wufeng stop, then walk in about 15 minutes.

The main area was quite average. I found few of the Confucius temples more impressive. Though, they had 大戲台 (stage area?) open for public viewing when I went, and that was nothing like other historical buildings I've been too in Taiwan.

Very impressive and beautiful attraction. The garden and the architecture is grand and magnificant. Must visit if you are in Taichung, just avoid come during summer time as you'll spend a lot of time under the sun during guided tour. Also there are very limited parking spaces and you must inform the reception before they'll let you in the vistor's parking area.

National heritage site Lin family house and garden. Beautiful architecture, nicely restored after the 1999-9-21 earthquake. Worth a visit.

This was the best experience from Taiwan for me. I went there in the morning and there was almost no one else at the time, which made the atmosphere even more magical, with the music playing in the background feeling like I travelled to the past. I recommend it very much.

The place was old and licated on a very narrow street but the house was full of history and hidden trivia. Hope that they will offer english tour for foreign national to better understand and appreciate the site

Beautiful ancient house complex owned by big family with a lot of rich and high ranking officials for more than hundred years. The complex is well maintained and the staff is friendly and well trained with historical knowledge.

Definitely a must when you visit Taichung. Reserved guided tour recommended!
