Before coming here, I had been studying in the standard Singapore education system (PSLE -> IP). I studied at HIS from 2011-2013 (Grade 10 to Grade 12). Really enjoyed my time here, the teachers are friendly and treat you genuinely. I only have good memories here. When a holiday comes around, the school encourages events to celebrate such as Halloween Dance Night, Thanksgiving Potluck, etc. There's an annual school wide musical in which anyone can participate. School trips to the amusement park and Kending were held too. Students can volunteer to take up leadership positions in various committees.

Being a student here, you will experience a well-rounded development. You will not only get to hone your academic knowledge, but also get to grow as a person (socially, mentally, morally). If you are highly motivated to excel, the teachers will support you fully to achieve your goals. There was a course just for 12-graders on college entry which was a big help to me.

I am truly thankful to my teachers and schoolmates who were an integral part of my journey to university.

This school has changed my life. My entire perspective on everything within its walls, and even beyond its boundaries. I can never perceive the knowledge and experiences within these halls in the same way again. This school embodies emotions that most individuals cannot fathom. However, I can. Thanks to this school, I have been enlightened to countless things that were once deemed unimaginable. I express my gratitude for the transformative impact it has had on me.

I taught at HIS for 7 years and our 3 boys attended the school, too. (High school, middle school, and elementary) I found the school to be professional and friendly. I worked with wonderful teachers and classroom assistants. The school creatively shared many holidays and traditions with their students. This created a family type community and we all wanted the very best for our students and each other. I loved the yearly performances! I miss H.I.S! We all have terrific memories.

A very nice school! As a former teacher I’d say the students are polite and friendly—many take on leadership roles and volunteer. They usually form close friendships and understand each other well. For the most part, they get along happily together and support each other. Students have opportunities to explore areas of interest to them and find their niche through numerous ECA offerings. Sometimes they will combine talents to help with a production, whether it is a play, robotics, music or dance, the kids are creative and ready for challenges. Team building activities like cookouts, overnights, Sports Day, and camping create great memories. Teachers and office staff are helpful, and efficient. The Secondary Department has undergone a few changes and the communication has been excellent. The Head of School is a lovely woman who is very caring and seems to know everyone personally. Academic content is solid, and many AP courses are offered, even for very small groups if the class is wanted. WASC accreditation is a big plus for international students. Although the campus is not large, lots of sports are offered. I would recommend this school for those wanting a small school in a more relaxed atmosphere; definitely a good choice to consider!

This institution has transformed my life in ways I never thought possible. From the moment I set foot within its premises, my entire outlook on life has undergone a profound shift. We provide our students with life skills and a positive attitude. Since being established over 40 years ago, HIS has built a strong sense of community amongst its student body and staff.

One of the best international schools in Hsinchu. Had a great time as a student there. Unique and fun learning environment that encourages students to explore their interests but gives them guidance so that they achieve their goals.

Teaching at HIS was the highlight of my career. I've also taught at public schools, other private schools, and a famous IB school.
HIS was the only school I've taught at where students (and teachers) are seen as people, not numbers. At most schools it feels like policies and curricula come first, then teachers fit around them, and students are the last priority, forced to fit into rigid timetables and regulations even if it stops them pursuing their interests or getting into their dream schools. At HIS it's the opposite: timetables and even course allocations are adjusted when needed to help teachers do their best to meet the students' needs and goals, while also growing professionally themselves in a meaningful way. That's why students get into top universities despite the limitations of it being a fairly small school, and why many staff stay for several years.
As a teacher, the support I received at HIS allowed me to be the best teacher I could be, teaching subjects I knew best to motivated students who chose to study them. I hope this benefitted my students as much as it did me.

Hsinchu International School Celebrates Students Who Earned a Rare “Perfect” Score on an Advanced Placement Exam

Hscinshu, Taiwan – Hsinchu International School celebrates high school student Bumgyu Suh for earning a perfect score on a college-level Advanced Placement® (AP®) Exam in spring 2023.

Bumgyu was one of only three of students in the world to earn every point possible on the AP Calculus AB Exam and one of ninety-one students to earn every possible point on the AP Computer Science A Exam.

“AP courses and exams are college-level, requiring great focus and persistence among participating students,” said Trevor Packer, head of the Advanced Placement Program. “We applaud the educators who encourage students to challenge themselves, who motivate and encourage diverse students to achieve their academic potential.”

Hsinchu International School celebrates high school student Emily Su for earning a perfect score on a college-level Advanced Placement® (AP®) Exam in spring 2021. Emily was one of only 356 of students in the world to earn every point possible on the AP Computer Science A Exam.

I worked at Hsinch Elementary School 5 years ago. They are an incredible school and have teams of very talented teachers who always put their students first. I highly recommend this school to fellow teachers who are looking to teach in Taiwan. They are outstanding.

This school taught me to become a better version of me. All the teachers not only taught me what was meant to be learned but also life lessons. They guide you. If I could go back in time I would do it just to repeat at least one year. When I have the chance I would take my kids there. I highly recommend this school, the place is amazing.
