Orchid Island

There are no banks on this island, only a post office and the atms don’t take foreign cards, bring enough cash before coming!!! Beautiful island :) driving around without stopping takes about 2 hours. Stop by the ice cream shop for some yummy taro float! So good I went back twice!

Great island for adventures and water activities. Perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. Really impressed by quality and diversity of wildlife in snorkeling areas.

Home to aboriginal Tao groups so there is living (however slowly fading away) culture here to learn about. Fly fishing and boat rituals. Underground homes is really interesting learning about.

Food quality is very low and very high priced. You can sometimes get fresh seafood if you go to fisherman’s restaurant, but mostly you won’t find fresh delicious cuisines here. Just be prepared with your expectations.

Ferry ride out to the island is common and reliable way to get here. Flights get canceled a lot due to wind conditions. Ferry ride is 2 hrs and 80% is going to be rough and choppy (a lot people got motion sickness on the ride)

Not really a children friendly island in my opinion. Tourism is developing but it more simple and raw in many cases. Good for you adults and adults. Renting a scooter is the best way to get around.

No real beaches here. Good to swim out in some areas with snorkeling gear. Bring your own towel from home. Many of the BnBs don’t provide towels.

Excellent hiking trails but advisable to get local guides for some of those hikes.

Amazing place well worth the visit and the cost, go snorkling and go to the top of the mountain for sunrise. we made friends with people who were staying and working there and they collected us on their scooters and told us about it too. Eat everywhere! we were there in 2018 (date stamps on images are wrong) went by ferry cycled around best snorkling with a local guy who we also stayed with he was unreal must get hes details. they have eco hostel and he took the 2 of us only so was really nice.

and fishes and the blue oceans ！U should join the tour to take u visit the beautiful oceans in this island ！

It is really worth visiting again and again.
The feeling here like the Philippines combine Taiwan, it is nice and makes exciting.

Please don’t let other reviews discourage foreigners to come to this beautiful island!! I literally couldn’t be further away from what the ppl here look like even for a foreigner and ppl here loved me! I had so many small chats, kids and adult locals would wave and smile as I rode around the island and I do not speak Chinese. I would suggest someone has an intentional license to rent a scooter as it is much easier to get around, but we didn’t and had to rent bicycles from a local woman and it worked out great minus a few steep hills lol. We were able to travel round almost 2/3rds of the island. You can come via plane which is more expensive or by boat- sometimes called the “barf barge” and yess you will likely throw up haha. You can sample the flying fish and see them come out of the water and it’s so cool. We went on a long weekend-snorkeling, jumped off many a cliff into the gorgeous water, chilled on the beach, saw the small shops, beachside bar,enjoyed the scenery and had a blast! I loved it here.

You’re in Orchid Island. Everyplace deserves a 5 stars rating.

112.10.21-23蘭嶼三天兩夜
新竹>台北>台東，走北回路線到東部，再搭乘陸海空快線到富岡漁港搭船。

第一天到蘭嶼11:30，港口旁領取事先預約的機車，民宿放行李，吃午餐，即前往紅頭山，挑戰第99座小百岳。

第二天自助環島，有許多有趣的巨岩，有鱷魚、雙獅、象鼻、龍頭、山豬、金剛岩，有如在參觀動物園呢！還有火把、坦克、軍艦岩等奇特形狀的岩石，隨處可見大自然的藝術，充滿無限想像。來到蘭嶼東半邊的東清部落，附近有個天然形成的美麗海灣秘境，與魚兒共遊玩耍，有綠的、藍的、黃的、黑的、灰的，條紋的、扁的、細長的，美不勝收。

第三天前往位於朗島部落附近的秘境玩水，自由自在的游了一個早上，無人打擾，赤裸的解放自我。14:00船班回台灣~~~依依不捨。

結語：由於風災過後加上淡季，許多餐廳未營業，或是更換淡季菜單，沒吃到想吃的飛魚餐，只有7-11變成好夥伴。三天時間遠遠不夠，還有很多很多地方想去與體驗，大小天池、拼板舟、浮潛等，未來必會再訪。

距離上一次到蘭嶼剛好滿12年，這麼剛好也是7/16風景依然優美，這次剛好碰到颱風過境有下點小雨所以特別涼爽，民宿增加很多攤販也增加不少當遊客感覺特別幸福開心⋯

2023.05.25 現在可以從後壁湖搭船到蘭嶼，大概2小時的船程，來到這裡還是我印象中的純樸小島！
所有的東西感覺都慢了下來，島民也是很悠閒的在生活著（包含島上的豬跟羊）😂
喜歡這種沒有過度推銷，沒有人會干擾你的小島風情！
騎著摩托車先環島一圈探探路，舒服的吹吹海風，晚上來個海邊燒烤店，跟朋友喝點小酒，聊聊天！真的是很愜意！
島上晚間路燈很少，路況也不太好，晚間騎車出門要小心，全島有兩家7-11可供購物！
租借摩托車大概400-500左右，可以多詢價比較！
水肺一對一潛水價格約在2500左右，不怕水的也可以嘗試看看！
海邊活動，有些下水點水位落差有點大,小朋友的戲水區域,在選擇上還是要小心謹慎！
#另外因為蘭嶼居民有一些禁忌，觀光客切忌遵守，不要造成當地人的困擾才好！

很漂亮可以很放鬆的一個地方來這邊一定要欣賞他的日出和夕陽還有他的潛水活動都很漂亮，值得細細品味會還想再來的一個好地方

很適合慢活的島嶼，相對其他離島開發少，冬季來會沒有什麼東西吃只能吃711，建議四五月後再來，可以玩水上活動等行程，環島路途上還可以看到豬仔跟羊，很有趣。

我肯定都在海水裡！

蘭嶼是一個很美的地方，建議要做些功課再前往……
觀山看海看山羊，處處是美景～
由於是火山地形，所以建議要帶雙膠鞋，去海邊時腳比較不會被石頭割傷，畢竟出去玩安全比較重要
