A great hike for the entire family with beautiful views.
How to get there: Rt. 1 then Rt. 13 (see image #1 of map).
The parking is a bit tricky. You need to make a u-turn at the end of Rt. 13 (south) then park on the side road of what may look as the opposite lane of Rt. 13 (it is not, Rt 13. (North) is a different road)
The hike:
The trail is a loop.(see map image #2) Most people take the path a long the cliff to enjoy the scenic views. The trail is steep at times. There are ropes along the trail that provides additional safety and signs that warns you to keep away from the cliff. (See images). The time to reach the summit depends on one’s age and capability. For an average hiker please plan for two hours.
The way down is typically via the leg of the loop that is away from the cliff. It seems to me as less steep. It is also less scenic.
To get back to the parking lot you need to cross by foot Rt. 13 (south). It is dangerous. There is no crossings for pedestrians.

This hike is so beautiful in so many ways. It took us about 4 hours to do the whole loop leisurely. It was pretty shady most of the hike. The ridge line has incredible views all around it. The landscape is so called grand cannon but in reality it’s much smaller. Nonetheless, it’s impressive. We had good sunny days, so it’s pretty pleasant. I can see it will get muddy on the raining days.

Easy hike, half day should be enough to do some exercise and take nice photos. Probably not worth it to walk all the tracks.
The entrance is located under the intersection, just before the bridge, downstairs. There is another entrance but there are lots of signs who discourage to enter, so better start from the bottom up.
The hike is easy, you cannot get lost because some people have done an incredible job to build steps and make everything simple and easy to follow. There are ropes to grab, some thick roots from the tree, and some man made steps.
Once reached the top, the danger starts, you cannot expose yourself too much just for taking a look, the soil is fragile and there are chances of landslides, you won't have much luck to survive if you fall 😢 if you're lucky though, you must pray to die from the pain..
On the top is mostly windy, so pay even more caution.
Some kind people leave daily water refill station at about half way, you must be thankful and grateful for that, nevertheless bring your own water, 2 small bottles should be enough.
The view from the top is spectacular, it's a gate to hell and it keeps widening up because of the rain and wind.

Very spectacular hike due to unusual sceneries with those cliffs shimmering white, yellow and ocher, made of earth and pebbles. The hike is like 6.4 km but due to altitude changes and the stops for pictures/rest/snack, it easily takes 4 to 6 hrs. The hike is a loop style, starting at the parking on Jianfeng road and going back to it. So far, Maps does not have a location for the start of the trail, which is at 24.3587789, 120.73644224. It hosts a parking and toilets. For foreigners, not a single board is dubbed in English, so it's better to understand the route beforehand. However, the route is rather obvious especially, there are short metal poles marking, confirming you are on the good trail and giving your progress on the 6.4 km length. The trail is sometimes steep, switching between regular forest trail and edge trail. It's not difficult but might be challenging for hikers in low condition. It can be rather hot and dry, and without any opportunities to re-supply water, so bring enough fluids.

Nice three hour hike. Be careful of the cliffs. Don’t go near them.
There are parking spots right at the entrance, free and paid ones.

It’s amazingly beautiful place to hike ..some parts are steep but it’s worth it coz it’s really beautiful mountain....want to come back here again someday ❤❤❤

At sunset, the eroded gullies exposing reddish soil look like flames when viewed from the south, hence the name Flame Mountain. This landmark is easily viewable from Highway 1. It marks the southern border of Miaoli County.

The trails are maintained well. If you begin on the southern side of the loop, it is a lot of stairs and steep inclines. The north side of the loop is more of a gentle slope with packed earth and rocks. The loop took us about three hours. There are a number of areas where you can take beautiful pictures of the unique landscape and surrounding area. Hope for good air quality so you can see it all. Happy trails!
