we came here at sunset and it was amazing. There are a lot of buildings that are well preserved. you can wander, look and imagine how people lived here in ancient times. I would budget a couple of hours for a walk around this ancient city, because the place is truly magical. the amphitheater was preserved just perfectly, we couldn’t get inside because it was already closed, but we looked at it from above. We liked this ancient city much more than the one in the city of Side.

Standing in the stands of the well-preserved amphitheater, you can imagine how people experienced it a long time ago. Simply a great experience. The ruins of the large city on the hill give a good insight into life back then. You can get as close to the ruins as you like and get a very vivid impression of the ancient times.

Very well preserved theatre that it still actively used - we saw preparations for the concert. Definitely makes an impression! Few tourists so you can visit it in calm. Entrance included in the Museum Pass Turkey.

Very well preserved and great views! I highly recommend bringing extra water as you can walk in the area to see other ruins, but it can be a lot in the heat/summer time.

I visited this place even without events, and it was quite good. However, the opera creates an entirely different impression! Excellent acoustics, a starry sky above. There was 'Aida,' a wonderful orchestra and vocals, ballet (you know a couple of countries where there is ballet =). There is water you can buy, but no alcohol, and parking can be a problem. It's not just an event, it's not quite a tourist event. It's a real Opera and Ballet festival! I recommend sitting in the center(vertical) due to the acoustic features. If you just want to look around without an event, climb up the hill behind the amphitheater; there you'll find beautiful views and impressive ruins. In conclusion, I recommend visiting

One of the oldest and most restored amphitheater in Europe. So much history that shows a small Roman city with aqueduct and shops, etc. Worth the drive.

A stunning well preserved amphitheatre! I would rate it better than all the other amphitheaters in Turkey. There is a trail to walk up and see the ruins of the church, cistern and more - do not miss it!

Public transport a little spare. Take a blue line till expo, a bus/dolma from there to serik and a bus from there to aspendos.

If you are in the area, you should definitely check it out. Admission can only be paid in lira (currently 340 TRY per person)! The ancient theater is one of the best-preserved in the world and the area as a whole has a lot of interesting historical sites to offer. You should plan about 1.5 to 2 hours to visit the entire area. Don't forget to take enough water on hot days.

This is a big site to visit with a magnificent theater that still is used to hold performances. It is great if you check the schedule before you go. If you are lucky you will be able to watch a concert in the theater. Allow couple hours for wondering around.

To avoid crowd, its better to visit during the week. But lovely view from the top of the theatre. If you come near Antalya, it is a must-see !!!

Aspendos was an ancient Greco-Roman city in Antalya province of Turkey. The site is located 40 km east of the modern city of Antalya. The Roman theater of Aspendos was built in the 2nd century and is one of the best preserved ancient theaters of the Greco-Roman world. With a diameter of 96 metres (315 ft), the theatre provided seating for 7,000/13,000 people. The theatre was built in 155 AD by the Greek architect Zenon.

Very beautiful, well preserved ancient theatre. Luckily we were there in autumn and late in the afternoon, so we were the only guests. Don’t forget to throw a coin at the center and hear the sound at the grandstands.

Amazing historic location to visit. I reccomend getting a tour scheduled ahead of time, they will drive you from Alanya. The steps and seats are so impressive, we spent a lot of time before the show exploring the theater. We saw the Fires of Anatolia, which were impressive!

Magnificent building and one of the best reserved Roman theatres, built under the reign of emperor Marcus Aurelius [161 - 180 A.D.] It remained so intact due to the interest of Kemal Ataturk. A wonderful experience !

Well preserved Roman theatre. Ample free parking spaces. Tickets without hearing guide aids - 100 TRY and with hearing aids around 600 TRY.

Note- there is a small trail to hike (difficulty easy) if you are interested in checking out remains of things like old stadium. Do carry water, comfortable walking shoes , sunscreen and a walking stick (if you’d prefer/ need one). If you are only interested in visiting roman theatre, you wouldn’t need to walk on hiking trail; its located right at the entry point.

WC available inside (after you purchase ticket) and there are small stalls with water and soft drink supplies and a photographer stall (dude dressed as a roman warrior-check his clicks you might-find it interesting).

Beautiful historical theatre. Well preserved despite its age. Not many people, there is a toilet. Inside the theater the sun bakes strongly, be sure to cover your head. Large free parking.

Visit the ancient theater and walk through the ancient path to Acropolis. Embrace the wonderful scent of plants along. Find your peace.
