One of the most ancient mosques in Turkey which can be visited when you are in Antalya. Free entry but there are some road works around the mosque and wudu was not available possibly due to the ongoing construction work.

Located in Kaleiçi (the old town centre), this mosque was built by the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Kay Qubadh I. It is part of a complex of structures, which include the Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev Medrese, Seljuk and Dervish lodges, and the vaults of Zincirkıran and Nigar Hatun. Every stone oozes history. If you go to Antalya, this mosque should be one of the locations you should consider visiting.

Wow MashAllah the most precious mosque I’ve ever visited. The carpets are extremely soft and clean. There is so much history in this place and one can feel it. This mosque is very accommodating and hospitable towards all. Anyone can come and learn about Islam here. There are posters outside and inside explaining Islam and inside the mosque there is an electronic interactive tablet which one learn about the mosque and about Islam. Available in Spanish, English, Russian, and Turkish.

I was curious about the price of a beautiful Quran I saw in the mosque. I went outside to ask the security guard, he immediately got up and took me into the mosque to see what I was talking about. He told us that there is no payment. He went above and beyond and gave us another book about Islam too. What a nice and kind man, God bless him.

We left a donation in the box because it’s important to keep such an important place of spirituality alive.

Absolute piece of marvel. Built in 1373, the most is well preserved. Cobbled street will lead you to the mosque. There is a small market place selling hand made jewelry of Seljuks and Roman era. It is a must visit.
The area near the mosque also have good information about Islam for everyone to learn and understand.

A 13th century Seljuk period Jamai mosque with flute architectural designed minaret. It was one of first old city mosque build near coast. In its verandeh, a Madressa was also built to train pupils in Islamic jurisprudence and fiqeh. Though most of Madressa side of left with ruins but mosque is still used for prayers. It’s low height roof tombs are earlier style of Seljuk style which is adopted till today in mosques.

Hystorical mosque from 12th century in the castle of Antalya. It has an underground pipe and reservoir system for cooling and heating through the floor. The minaret is of special design that gives the mosque its name. The mosque is in the middle of beautifuly preserved and maintained castle with large number of its old buildings and is complemented with vast numbers of cafes restaurants and antiquity shops.

Mosque and madrassah next to one another, lovely place to visit in the old town.

A lot of history associated with it, the local guide said the minaret mosque is over 600 years old and still using the original building blocks.

Which was amazing to see, the mosque is still active and also available for tourists to go in, the madrassah is now a littlearket full of little shops.

A must if you are exploring old town.

Yivli Minare Mosque, Kaleiçi, Antalya, Turkey : 🇬🇧
The mosque, which is a 13th-century Seljuk Turkish Architectural Work, is interesting with its groove-shaped minaret.
The work in the Unesco World Heritage Tentative List is one of the symbolic works of Antalya, which was built during the reign of the Seljuk Sultan 1. Keykubat.

The Anatolian Seljuk Sultan, Kayqubad I (1188-1237) ordered this mosque, which was destroyed in the 14th century and reconstructed in the 1370s on the foundations of a Byzantine church.

An abiding part of the Kaleiçi cityscape is the 38-metre minaret, called the “fluted minaret” for the eight long grooves in its red brick shaft.

In the mosque’s heyday these flutes were clad with blue glazed tiles.

The Yivliminare Mosque is a functioning place of worship, paced on the tentative list of Turkish UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2016. For non-Muslims it’s a beautiful waymarker appearing from time to time between the houses as you plot a course through Kaleiçi’s alleys.

It is a wonderful historical work, but the restoration work is very bad. My advice is, don't waste these works for three to five cents.
