Sile Lighthouse

I had the pleasure of visiting the old lighthouse in Sile, and it left me in awe. Located in the charming town of Sile near the picturesque coast of the Black Sea, just north of Istanbul, this historic lighthouse is a true gem. Not only is it a mesmerizing piece of history, but it's also the second largest active lighthouse in the world, which is truly impressive.

The Sile Lighthouse commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I (r. 1839–1861), it was constructed in 1859 by French engineers.

If you want to go there by yourself, the easiest way is coming to Üsküdar in Asian side of Istabbul, there are some bus standing close to metro station every morning and you can check the return time and come back after enjoying your time there in the evening.

One of my favorites towns before leaving Istanbul, usually spend a night or two relaxing and enjoying the small old shops and tasty food 😋

Amizzzing view to back sea calm and relaxing. Have an excellent sea smiling and relaxing waves sound.. Very good for family travel.. Near it there is a park you can walk to. And it has even better views

Very amazing view point for black sea. Both summer and winter season show its own colors of beauty. It gives you a goosebumps when you will be standing the viewpoint near lighthouse and can sea a huge tide of the sea. Copyrights for pictures ©

Don’t forget to visit this small city next to your tour in Istanbul (almost 50 minutes a way), awesome weather with great sea front and beaches.

Also it has a unique lake which you can rent a bbq grill with Burning charcoal with affordable price (recommended to provide the marinated bbq meat or chicken from the city) and then you will have a not forgettable experience 😁👌🏻

Worth a visit! There’s a really good coffee place close to the striped light house that offers cake and good coffee with a view. If you have the time it’s also possible to walk down to the rocky beach and get your feet wet in the Black Sea. I didn’t see anyone swimming - perhaps the currents are strong, so please investigate that before dipping. Besides the lighthouse there’s also a park and a bunch of places towards the harbour that offer great views.

Amazing view of the Caspian Sea, also an excellent walk with good restaurants and a great garden with a view 5 minutes from the lighthouse.

The Şile Feneri, a historical lighthouse still in use, is located on the western Black Sea coast in the northeast town Şile of Istanbul Province, Turkey Commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I (reigned 1839–1861). it was constructed in 1859 by French engineers. In 1860, the lighthouse went into service.

Amazing view, would totally recommend, you can also walk down to the market to eat some delicious food

What a Great place ! I recommend visiting sile in spring because the weather in October was very cold

The view was incredible:) I recommend you to visit and take some pictures. We did not go inside of the lighthouse.

The place is great, the people are hospitable and very pleasant. The place is close to Istanbul (less than 70km) and worth a visit and shopping from Sheila shops at very discounted prices!

A must visit place in Şile. You can also visit the museum from 10:00 to 16:00 except Mondays. There is a great park with great view near the Lighthouse where you can enjoy drinking a cup of tea or coffee.

You can find one of the best places for photography with the great view of sea and horizon

Amazing view but not recommended in winter since it’s very windy.

They have an attractive zip line , coffeeshop, and beautiful black sea view
