The ancient city of Tripolis

Definitely off the beaten path but pretty impressive. They are continually excavating and unearthing the area. They have already posted signs of information. If you’re up for a short high, the view at the top is really nice. Right now it is free to visit and it closes at 5:00. There was 1 other person visiting when we arrived and there were a couple diggers in the area.

Beautiful, peaceful ancient site that you should come to. Entry is free, and there's no other tourists when I'm here. A lot of ancient artifacts and site that you can explore and learn about.

It's very beautiful, and special, to Walk in the remains of an ancient city of the old roman empire! You can almost imagine ,what is must look like back then!

Free entrance and parking, easy to navigate, great ancient city and history, must see.

Hidden gem in between villages.

Tripolis provides guests with a lot to look at. Thanks to the, still ongoing, reconstructions. Walk through the old streets, have a look into the remote church and even make a little break at the elevation with an astonishing panorama-view.

If you're near Denizli/Aydın then plan a day-vacation! Besides, entree is free and you'll even be escorted by a companion. The cute dog will follow you and is more than happy to get some pets on his head.

It is situated about 40 km north of Denizli, east of Buldan and Yenicekent Towns, at the foot of a hill which is between Buyuk Menderes River and Yenicekent Town. Tripolis was one of the frontier centers of commerce and agriculture in the Lydia Region which supplied transportation between Karia, Phrygia, and Tripolis. It was one of the richest cities in the region because of its strategic location. It is believed to have been founded by citizens of Pergamum. The best extant monuments date from the 1st - 3rd centuries A.D. According to Plinius, another name of the city was Apollonia. There are names of the goddess Leto, Letoia Phthia Games and the Menderes River on their coins. The city suffered many earthquakes and wars throughout history. Tripolis is mentioned in the list of participants at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. This shows Tripolis was an important religious city during that period

Quite a new place with lots uncovered, will be fantastic in time but still worth a visit, sign posts are non exsistant so follow Google maps

An interesting site! Excavations continue on though there is very much work ahead. The Agora and the aqueduct are quite impressive! Well worth the time.

Another large ancient city in the Aegean region of Turkey. Must see..

One of the best preserved ancient cities in Anatolia... A must see after visiting Hierapolis and Pamukkale...

Öncelikle giriş ücretsiz. Girişte otopark var. İçeride kafeterya yok. Bir tane kabin tuvalet var, bunu dikkate alın gelmeden önce. Girişten 100 metre ileride yapılar başlıyor, 400 metre kadar yürümeniz gerekiyor herşeyi görmek istiyorsanız. Kazılar özenli bir şekilde ilerliyor. Çok az olmasına rağmen çok güzel eserler çıkmış ortaya... Mümkünse akşamüstü ziyaret edilmeli... Çünkü gerçekten çok sıcak ... Denizli bölgesindeki 3.antik kent ve kesinlikle gitmelisiniz.

Kazılar devam ediyor. Ancak şimdiden görülmeye değer bir antik kent. Özellikle sütunlu caddenin yoluna döşenmiş taşlar neredeyse ilk günkü gibi duruyor. Agorası çok geniş , agoranın ortasında bulunan Onur anıtı ilgi çekici. Ayrıca çeşmesi, mozaikli konutu, tiyatrosu, hamamı, tonozlu yapısı ile gezmesi çok keyifli bir kent. Giriş şimdilik ücretsiz. Kapısında ve içeride güvenlik görevlileri mevcut.

Henüz çok az bir alan yüzeye cikarilmis. Hatta tiyatrosu ve hamamı henüz toprak altinda ama yerleri belli. Cok rahat gezilebiliyor devasa bir alani kapsıyor. Kuşbakışı tepeden baktiginizda tüm sehrin çıkarılmış halini hayal etmek heyecan veriyor. Üzüm bağları manzarasi da ekstrasi. Yolu izi kolay rahat, yolu düşene öneririm.

Çok güzel yer lakin mutlaka suyunuzu şapkanızı alıp gidin çok sıcak yer. Mutlaka görülmesi geren yer.

Muazzam... 5000 yıl evvel böylesine muhteşem yapıların yapılabilmesi çok enteresan. Muhakkak görülmesi gerekir.... Başka ülkelerin elinde olsa kesinlikle hak ettiği değeri bulur ve dünyaca ünlü bir antik kent olurdu...

Tripolis antik kenti, henüz çalışmalar tamamlanmasa bile zevkle gezebileceğiniz bir yer. Antik kent aşığıysanız gelmezseniz olmaz diyebilirim. Henüz kazıları tamamlanmadığı için girişler ücretsiz. Çok güzel fotoğraflar çekme imkanınız da var. Yapıların önlerinde bilgilendirme yazıları mevzut ve antik kenti gezmesi de çok kolay.

Tripolis Antik Kenti; Denizli sınırları içerisinde kalan antik kent yakın zamanda gün yüzüne çıkarılmaya başlanmış. Bu bölgeye gelenler mutlaka görmeliler. Özellikle aşama aşama bir antik kentin nasıl gün ışığına çıkarıldığına şahit oluyorsunuz.
