Beautiful and peaceful. Me and my friend went there for Asar prayer today and met some lovely ladies. They have a nice and clean little women's section and the mosque in itself is very serene. An absolute must

Beautiful, as a non Muslim we aren’t allowed in the prayer room but thank you for allowing us to enter the court room, interesting read regarding the mosque’s history, a gentleman took time for us to talk to us about the religion and what the mosque meant for him, was lovely

Located at the entrance to the medina, it was erected by the Aghlabid ruler Aboul Abbas I, nearly thirty years after the construction of the ribat of Sousse. This mosque is emblematic of a city which, a few years after the reign of Ziadet-Allah I, became the second city of Ifriqiya and the Sahel. Subsequently, the building was enlarged during the reign of Ibrahim II.
The mosque, of rectangular plan, is composed of a courtyard with porticoes on which the prayer hall opens. Two towers, surmounted by domed aedicules, occupy the northeast and southeast corners of the courtyard; the northeast one is accessible by a staircase from the courtyard. The upper area of the porticoes is decorated with a Kufic inscription with slanted letters, inscribed in a basin-shaped band.

This mosques is interesting because of the missing of the minaret. The minaret is the tower from where the muezzin announcing the praying time.
