Mides Oasis

taking the large tour (1 hour or more) is a good idea, and not really expensive at all.

The Mides Oasis is only a few hundred meters from the Algerian border and is the filming location for part of the English Patient.

The view of the canyon is stunning, locals call it "Tunisian Colorado". The oasis keeps the air temperate and fresh, in contrast to the arid desert around.

We walked in the canyon on our own, we didn’t need a guide. It was extremely beautiful, 100% would recommend! We met a shepherd whose sheep were really cute and the dogs weren’t aggressive at all. Afterwards we looked down on the canyon from the old village and then had drinks and sat in the shade chatting with an old local guide

Awesome! You can freely walk into the dried up canyon. Also great views from the abandoned village up on the hill.

Here you will find one of the best canyons of the world. Unfortunately the government is not investing in tourism. Very beautiful natural view. Needs to be maintained.
The Canyon is situated in a very small village, where people are very kind and generous.
If you visit Tozeur, you must come to see this Canyon, it's around one hour only by car from Tozeur.

Magnifique village, nous y sommes allés en randonnée a pied de tamerza. 3h30 aller retour, le passage dans les gorges est excellent

Schöne Wanderung von Mides nach Tamerzah, Guide empfohlen; die Strecke ist nicht ausgeschildert und man läuft nahe der algerischen Grenze.
