There are really four elements to visiting this site;
1) The Temple Buildings
2) The beautiful peaceful forest
3) The museum
4) The Pagoda
The whole site is really a dedication to "Ajahn Chah", I hadn't realised how important this Dhamma monk was until my visit. He founded this site in 1954 and died here in 1991. His status is pretty much equivalent to that of a Christian Saint and 10s of thousands of people, both Thai an foreigners, make a pilgrimage here each year to camp in the grounds and listen to Dhamma teachings. I love it's special setting within a large forest, very unusual for a Temple. Many Cockerels in the grounds, along with the squirrels and a background soundtrack of cicadas.

Nong Pa Phong temple is in Warinchumrab, Ubonratchatani. It’s a great place for learning about Luang Pu Cha, the well known monk who ables to teach the Buddhism in a very simple way even for ones who spoke the other languages, not Thai language. In the temple there is a museum, pagoda, and lots of teaching phrases on trees . The place is spacious and has a peaceful atmosphere. Across from the temple there are local product shops.

I have been here for 3 times, never disappointed. The temple still preserve peacefulness and simplicity as its philosophy. The temple is located in forest, but it is very convenient to travel from Ubon Ratchathani airport which you can choose going by taxi or mini bus. This year of meditation retreat will be held on 12-17 Jan 2020.

This complex has three parts (Museum Ajahn Chah – Luang Pu Cha Pagoda - Wat Nong Pa Phong). The Wat Temple is a simple but elegant structure, and is well used by the Monks mostly. Peaceful and shaded for reflection and meditation.

The monastery founded by Luang Pu Chah (Ajahn Chah). An annual commemoration ceremony will be held from 11 Jan to 17 Jan, where Buddhists will come to meditate, listen to the dhamma talks, perform dana and camp. Camping is free, bring your own tent. Food is free.
An annual time for the disciples of Luang Pu Chah to recollect and practise the teachings of their teacher and Buddha.

This is a Buddhist temple founded by Ajahn Chah. They have an event annually, every January 16th, on his passing. People will be coming from over all Thai and around the world for this Event, so around this time of year the temple is very busy. It runs for about a week, and the main day is the 16th with approximately 10000-20000 people daily and on the main Event it can get up to 50000+ people. So if you planning to visit the temple prepare yourself. But most of the time it’s very peaceful and quiet temple.

Great place to do meditation in Ubon Ratchathani...It makes my meditative experience more special by walking, being at peace with myself. And this temple is very clean, quiet and shady.

A local friend took me to the museum for Ajahn Chah and we spent quite a bit of time there checking out many of the things in the exhibit, which I found so interesting and was grateful to be there and experience it. Afterward, we went to the wonderful nearby Wat Pah Nanachat, which is also affiliated with Ajahn Chah and has some of his sayings posted on the trees.
