Thongsala Pier (Raja, Lomprayah, Seatran, Night Boat)

Sea boat / ferry. Great place to watch the sunset. Free to walk around and sit. If you walk past the ticket counters and food area there is a brick tide wall to your right, you can sit there. Locals sit here also. It’s quieter than the park on the south side of the pier.

Good accessibility to suratthani pier and nearby islands 🏝. Once in an hour to suratthani. I recommend to buy tickets online since they're much cheaper to get.

I traveled from Bangkok to Koh Phangan (6am bus no VIP) the boat was waiting and the connection from the bus to the boat was organized and fast!!! .
Also travel from koh phangan to koh samui + shuttle to the hotel. All 10 points!!!

Good pier, good shopping and rental options around, just make sure to check in at the Lomprayah Ticket Office first for your Lomprayah ferry when traveling from here! Online tickets were very convenient other than that bit!

Nice big pier. Note that you first have to check in to the ferry and the office is not at the pier, but a short walk into the city.
There are some food and drinks stations. With quite spacious waiting area. The waiting area has some cover from the sun and also sitting places.
If you come here from any other island, be prepared that Grab does not work here, so you will have to take their shared taxis. Maybe better book with the ferry company or with your hotel.

Our travel from Koh Phanang to Koh Samui was for some reason not a catamaran, but a speedboat. It had capacity for only 20-30 people, thus they brought a few of them. Despite the late departure we were still on time with the arrival time.

It doesn’t look fancy, but we had a good experience with my boyfriend. We were getting a boat to Phangan, but accidentally booked tickets for a wrong day. The ticket lady kindly just changed the date for us to correct one without any extra charge. They have male/female toilets also disabled ones with an easy access. We also had a food on site and it was fresh and delicious for so cheap

The pier serves both Seatran and Lomprayah.
If you want the cheapest tickets, buy directly from the offices (10 min walk from the pier facilities). Search for the company name on Google maps.

We were taking the catamaran to chumphon and it got delayed due to bad weather.

If you are a dog owner, don't worry. you can travel with pets on the ferry without any additional fees or requirements. Just not in AC rooms.
Heavy and bulky luggage it's can be strapped and left on car-deck

Organized chaos, but just enjoy it. I advise strongly to take a travel sickness pill as it can get pretty choppy and it all goes pear shaped for many. Worth the journey to Koh Tao. Beautiful place.

Finally Seatran (car ferry) is installed in the Thong Sala Pier going to Don Sak, Surat Thani. It means better quality on board with a certain standard concerning cleanliness, air conditioning and a quiet big shop with good choices (food, drinks and coffee) equivalent to a small 7-11. Another plus for some passengers would be getting a Thai Foot Massage, Krapomm
