Maehaad Bay Resort

It's a place from the 80s. Still, well looked after but dated. Rooms are huge, sometimes water pressure was low, but it comes around. AC also a bit slow, but 24 to 25vat night was excellent. Peaceful. Breakfast with 2 two coffee machines someone was complaining the queue was long, when I was there on a full moon day it was excellent. Breafast food options also wide. Pool is fantastic, but PLEASE PROHIBIT SMOKING 🚬 AT THE POOL. UNACCEPTABLE. ALSO, WEED SMOKING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Bar is perfect for 🌇 SUNSET. In general, we paid under 3,000 thb on a full moon day, and it was great. In general, for this budget, you don't get 4 seasons but I don't want that, so 🤷.

After reading some negative reviews about this hotel, I was sceptical about staying here so I booked 1 night. Since then, I have stayed an additional 3 nights. Firstly, the staff at reception are lovely and extremely helpful, which is contrary to some of the bad reviews I have read.
Secondly, the room (standard room) is exceptional. It is modern, spacious, with a huge shower and lots of storage space. The bed is very comfortable, which is a plus, as I suffer from back pain. My room is situated next to a nice pool (one of 2) which has sand around it to simulate a beach. It's shallow in places and great for kids. It is by the trees, which provides some shade in areas throughout the day. The second pool is even bigger and has full sun, with ample loungers/chairs.
Thirdly, the breakfast is great. There is a wide selection of bread, bacon, eggs, fruit and salad and made to order eggs and omelette. For beverages, juice and a coffee machine are available. There is Koh Ma island nearby which you can walk to via sand bar at low tide, and sandy beaches around the headland for beach time. There are some hammocks between the coconut trees also. Other restaurants are nearby to try, as well as some local shops, a massage and small bars outside the hotel.
The room is around 2300 baht if you book at reception, but as low as 1950 baht if you book on Agoda.

The friendly and very helpful staff, delicious, various and plentiful breakfast buffet, excellent restaurant for lunch and dinner, clean environment, the best location, great mood for not only couples but also families and more importantly the best place to do snorkeling and freedive for freedivers as there are any coral reefs and fishes to observe under the sea in front of the hotel!

Super nice hotel with beautiful and clean rooms, great breakfast and awesome pools. The hotel's location is ideal for a nice time-out but not really recommendable if one wants to party...

An amazing experience at this resort. The room that was super clean was double and it was amazing, the little ones on one side with their 2 beds and right on the other side we had a huge kingsize bed. Comfy beds, Huge bathroom with lovely bathtub and shower. Views of the pool, and if we had been on the top floor, also of the sea. The Balconi was perfect to my teas. The breakfast was good, although it had a bit of everything, it happens as in almost all buffets, which is almost the same every day. But everything was very good. The attention of the staff, always attentive and friendly. The gym is a bit poor, but I have made up for it with long walks along the beautiful beaches. The hotel is clearly located in a beautiful place, with access to Koh Ma walking, with a good area for snorkeling and perfect for watching the sunsets. Swimming pools are also very good.

I stayed in Maehaad Bay Resort for 4 days during the week of the Full Moon Party. The hotel was almost full but it did not have any impact on their services.

Hotel and rooms
1. This is a big resort. It is expanded from the alley to the beach.
2. There is a massive swimming pool.
3. There are 2 smaller swimming pools (compared to the main pool). One of the pool has a small fountain. These pools are located in the other building.
4. The staff is helpful. They try their best to facilitate the guests.
5. The rooms are large with clean toilets and large bathroom.
6. The WiFi is fast and stable. I observed speed of 50 Mbps during my stay.
7. They additionally provide bath robes, swimming towels, sleepers, and hair dryer in the room.
8. The hotel provides a drop-off to the jetty for a small cost. You might also check for the pick-up from the jetty.

Breakfast
1. Excellent breakfast with multiple options.
2. They provide take away breakfast in case a guest has booked a tour.
3. Restaurant prices are reasonable.
4. Optionally there are a couple of nearby restaurants.

Location
1. I found the Maehaad beach to be the best beach on Koh Phangan.
2. The Maehaad beach is connected to a nearby island, around 100 mtr, by a sand bridge.
3. The sand bridge is an excellent location to observe sunset and sunrise.
4. There is a restaurant nearby the sand bridge. You can try a moonlight dinner on the beach, if weather permits.
5. There are multiple scooty rentals and shops nearby.

Cons
1. The only con, in my opinion is about the distance from Haad rin or jetty area.
The hotel is really on the other side of the island. It takes 30 minutes to reach the jetty and 45+ minutes to Haad rin area.

My husband and I were looking for a nice beach hotel with a pool and a gym in Koh-Phangan. we loved this place so much we decided to book for a month. First of all, the location is superb, right on Maehaad beach which has SUPERB snorkeling! just amazing, from my point of view way better than Surin island. they have a really good restaurant with cheap prices, Very good WIFI (depending on which room you stay in), a huge pool and another small one, a nice gym and super friendly staff. standard rooms are new and the ones on the ground floor are sealed from bugs invasion haha... I'm freaked by bugs so this was a true find for me. and the standard rooms and deluxe are all adjacent to each other and both are really close to the beach- like 1-minute walking so I have no idea why people complained about this.

Lovely room, very clean with big bathroom, wi-fi is good, so was breakfast, 3 large pools to use & friendly staff, the sunset from beach was amazing, we really enjoyed your stay here

One of the best accommodation I ever had. It has two swimmingpool, one has beach feeling and one is crystal clear. The beach is in 10 m from the restaurant. The staffs are extremely kind, always say ,,Hy,, when meet with one of them. If you order something you pay only at the end of the check out, so to the bill just have to write the room number and a signature and the tip. The foods are delicious and the rooms are clean. We are absolutely satisfied with this!

Nice hotel but very quiet still. Booked for our day 5 COVID test but decided to stay still after it was no longer needed. Comfy modern rooms, with everything you need (water, kettle with tea and coffee, hair dryer).

I dont know where to start, the place is amazing, food Is good, rooms are clean, pools are great, koh ma is wonderful, snorkeling is the best in koh phangan.
Motorbike rental "pim" is right in front, so is the massage center, both cheap, honest and reliable. The place is one of the most quiet on the island, and please, enjoy the sunset

The roomes that are around the pool are amazing. Superior rooms. Much better than the standard. The breakfast is good. Nice helpful and quick service and good taxi service. Good restaurants at that area. The beach is beautiful though not ideal for swimming. The massage on the beach is good

Unbelievable value for money! This is an amazing resort. Friendly staff, super clean rooms and great services. The pool area overlooking the beach is incredible. Quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the south of the island.

Great massage rooms just in front of the hotel: for only 300-500THB/1h, you will get the most relaxing massages of Thailand!
Great thai restaurants on site or at 5min walking distance (even better quality/price compromise)!
Great place for snorkeling at 10min walking!
Great spot to admire sunset after a day taking the sun on sofa or on the white sand!

Very clean and spacious room. We got a complimentary upgrade on arrival (to the same type of room we had already booked. hahaha). Very easy access to the beach which is right outside the hotel. Very friendly and attentive staff. It's pretty secludes though so be prepared to be stuck with the same food options (eating from the same place for 4 days was a bit much for us) unless you hire a bike (which we did not). There are 2 other hotels next to it but their food was not impressive. There's a Family Mart nearby with is pretty convinient. Cash machines too incase you need it. Taxi drivers charge 200THB per person for transfer from the pier, which is a bit too much. Our transfer by the hotel to Lomprayah office was 150 THB per person. We'd also booked the ferry tickets through the hotel. All worked out pretty well thanks to their great service.

Clean, spacious, tastefully designed & relaxing place. Large oval infinity pool is heavenly. Friendly staff. Not perfect for soft sandy beach-front seekers but ideal for snorkelling off shore.

Huge pool. Friendly staff, luxurious rooms, and just a hop and a skip to the beach. Breakfast was nothing special, but they did cater for our vegan requests. Didn’t try staying for dinner so can’t comment.
