This is a new build temple and I visited several years ago and wanted to visit a second time. The word "awesome" is overused by the new generation that does not understand that words are to be used but not overused. I will use the word awesome and I mean it is a very beautiful temple. It is awesome the beauty and artistry.

You have to take your shoes off before you enter the main gates into the main courtyard. I am a tenderfoot and my feet actually got burnt on the paving stones because they were so hot. It took a couple of days for the tingling sensation to go away. Be aware of that and I suggest you wear socks.

There is ongoing construction with a new pavilion being built to one side, but the completed part is wonderful to be in and beautiful with artistry on the walls and ceiling and Buddha is a simple, seated, white Buddha surrounded by a pagoda style enclosure.

Yes, this is a 5-star temple and worth a trip to visit even if you are not Buddhist

Wat Maha That blew me away! It's easily one of the coolest temples I've ever seen, and the sheer size of it is mind-boggling. Stepping inside, you can feel the history and spirituality. The ancient relics and sculptures are a real treasure. A must-visit for anyone in the area! 🏯🌟

Hired sports bikes from Patong and rode here. Well worth it. My first time visiting a temple and this one is amazing. It would have been a long drive to get here by car but a thrilling ride on the bikes.

We were passing by. Not in our rota. There was no one there because it was raining. We were lucky that no one was there so we took photos and videos in peace. It is a wonderful temple with incredible contrasting colors. A must see.

It is a very beautiful temple with so many details to watch. The size of it is impressive on it’s own. Most of the time it is very quiet here, so it’s great to enjoy. The atmosphere is very peaceful and there are also a few little shops with food and drinks outside. Even a little coffee shop is available. Foreigners need to pay an entrance fee of 50 baht. We absolutely recommend to come and visit this place

Driving almost 2 hours through the rain and Phang Nga’s Avatar-like mountain settings, we found ourselves yesterday in one of the most stunning holy sites in the south. Inspired by India’s Mahabodhi Temple marking the place where Buddha gained enlightenment, Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol or otherwise known as Wat Bang Thong has a 45-meter gilded stupa at its heart - making it the tallest chedi in Southern Thailand. Around the massive temple complex are several other Thai Buddhist temples, large statues and even a circular Chinese style pagoda also being completed.

We spent the day wandering through the lush grounds and getting awed by the structures which were stunning in any weather and disposition.

One of the most beautiful temples we visited. I would advise to wear socks as the ground can get hot. We stopped here on the way from Phuket to Krabi. They are building more to the temple now as well.

A big & majestic temple with many worshippers here. Came on 17march 2024 which was a big day for Budha worshippers in Thailand. Free food & drinks were provided generously to all.

One of the most beautiful architecture temple in the south of Thailand. You may need 1-2 hours to walk around the sanctuary of the temple. while you're watching the beautiful murals and the beautiful image Buddhas. The best time to visit and take a good photo is in the morning but if you go to the temple before lunch time or in the afternoon please bring the umbrella because the weather is very hot.

Just about the best temple I have seen. It's huge. Must be some very well off Buddhist. Or lots and lots of poor ones.
My gf is Buddhist so we did a ceremony with a Monk.
Well worth a look if you are into this sort of thing.
