Resting Place Koh Yao Yai

A wonderful little hotel set in the hills of Koh Yao yi. The rooms were lovely, with beautiful views out over the trees and water. A spacious balcony with a little table made the view easy to enjoy.

The beds were very comfortable, the rooms large, clean and modern.

The thing that really made this hotel was the manager Yon and his team. The service was amazing, and the best I had experienced in Thailand. Yon organised taxis, ferry tickets, a private boat for the day and gave great recommendations for our exploration around the island. The breakfast that was prepared was delicious and plentiful.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Everything about our experience staying here was absolutely amazing. The views from the room are fantastic, the breakfast is plentiful and delicious but the staff were absolutely out of this world. I have done a lot of travelling and the service we received in this hotel was far beyond anything I have experienced before. They were constantly going above and beyond to make our experience on the island special and I cannot thank them enough for such a special trip. Absolute must stay if visiting the island

We had a lovely stay on Ko Yao Yai thanks to the very friendly owner Yon, his lovely family and staff.

1. Ko Yao Yai is extremely quiet from a tourist/nightlife perspective so is a great place to relax and unwind after phuket/pho phi, can scoot around the island easily (very quiet no traffic) to see the real Thai island life.

2. The resting place is lovely, great clean bungalows with nice views, hot water, good AC, and comfortable beds. Very tasty homemade Thai style breakfast was cooked for us every morning, nothing is too much to ask!

3. Really great hosts, Yon personally picked us up from the Harbour and checked in on us throughout our stay, probably the most welcoming host we’ve ever had!! Yon can also organise washing/tours/transport and rent you a good scooter for a reasonable price which is a must on this large island!

Resting Place Koh Yao Yai is a beautifully situated "boutique" style hotel. Guests get a small "cottage" at their disposal, which consists of a large room, a bathroom and a terrace. The cottages are located on a hillside. In December 2023, the hotel consisted of 5 cottages/rooms. The owners were building three new "houses", which are most likely already open (in 2024).

Each cottage is accessed via a separate staircase. The private terrace offers a beautiful view of the sea. Breakfast was included in the room reservation.

It's about a 20-minute walk to the "local center" with a 7-eleven store and few restaurants. You can rent a motorbike on site. It seems to be the best option to explore the island.

The hotel is very close to both piers, i.e. the main one - Chong Lard Pier, and the less frequented one - Klong Hia Pier. I think it is possible to ask the hotel for pick up from Klong Hia Pier (which was our case).
At the hotel you can buy a trip to Hong Island (I highly recommend it) and other places - at a good price and good quality.

The owners are extremely hospitable and helpful. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely stay there again.

The island is inhabited mainly by Muslims (about 99%), so alcohol is not as easily available as in other parts of Thailand (including the tourist areas in southern Thailand). The hotel and the nearest 7-eleven store do not sell alcohol. The nearest liquor store is near the Chong Lard Pier. :-)

we stayed there for 2 nights and everything was perfect, clean and nice rooms, great location, tasty food, kind and very helpful personal and its close to nice beaches. i’d really recommend this place!❤

Had a great stay here, gorgeous views and very helpful staff. Visited in the off season so it was very quite. We where offered a lift from and to the pier when we arrived and left, and rental scooters are available from the Resting Place. They only took cash however which wasn’t mentioned on the booking anywhere and there was a sign saying ‘visa payment’s preferred’ in reception, this could be because it was the off season though.

This place was the definition of superb! A truly wonderful host who helped us in all ways possible! Highly recommend this place and all it offers!

It was perfect.
The room was really clean and modern. (Newly build 2019). The view from the rooms is incredible. You wake up and directly see the waterfront.
The room comes with air conditioner and it’s quite at night.
The communication with the host was easy - really friendly family in generell.

There is also a laundry service that we used.

The wireless connection worked good.

We rented a scooter directly from our hotel - with 250 Baht per day a good and regular price for this island. (On days we did not used the scooter, we payed nothing).
We also booked a Island tour directly from our host. Again with 2600 Baht for two Persons a good price (Hong Island Tour).
There are some breakfast places nearby (5-6 minutes with the scooter).

Resting Place Ko Yao Yai is a cozy resort with five rooms. The resort is runned by a very friendly family. They do everything to make sure your visit is perfect. They gave us free coconuts, asked so many times if everything was okay and brought us to the pier when we had to leave. The rooms (houses) were located on a hill with a nice view. The room was big, clean and had everything we needed. They had new and well maintained motorbikes for rent. The island itself is very beautiful.

Very nice family run hotel. Family were very welcoming and friendly they had lovely hospitality. Although it's a bit if a drive to the nearest beach (maybe 10-20 minutes) you can rent out scooters from them and travel the whole island. Many beaches to see. Hotel rooms are very new and quite nice to stay in. In the evening you can look out at the water and surrounding island. Would stay again :)

Clean and comfortable rooms with good size bathrooms. Great balcony and just a perfect view to the sea and Pha Nga bay islands. Good service, good new scooters for rent for ok price. Will come again.

Boutique Hotel close to the Island Pier. Room is newer and tastefully decorated. Room is clean. Great service. Wifi. Hot water. Owners were very accommodating when we requested an early breakfast so we can leave early to catch the ferry.

Incredible place! Rooms are on a small hill so you get an amazing sea view. Rooms, looked and felt brand new! Breakfast was delicious and owner was very helpful and kind family owned business

Good place to rest . They even set up TV just for us to watch the world cup final. They are so welcome.
