Purana Resort Koh Yao Noi

This was the most expensive of our stays in Thailand, but was intentional; a break from our backpacking journey.

The rooms were immaculate, separate shower, impeccably clean bathroom, and great living space.
The beds were very comfortable with two different sized pillows to choose from.
The room also can open the wall that faces the view, and opens onto the large patio complete with hammock, chairs, and sectional style seating area with pillowed seats and smaller pillows for naps.
They came with an electric fly swatter; when we went in February there were only small black flies that didn’t cause us any issues.
The coffee maker was pod driven, and only two provided per day. Additional could be purchased for 35 baht.

We spent a couple hours at the pool, beach towels provided, and the pool is quite warm.
There are a few loungers and shaded areas to hang out in.

Breakfast was good, glad it was included at this price point, and was decent.

The staff knew us by name immediately, ensured our transportation was lined up (even though we booked it in our own) and were very pleasant.

The bar nearby is linked to the hotel, and offered great drinks and a great lounge area.
The beach is unreal as far as views go, but has no sand. So if that’s a priority to you, you should weigh it against everything else.
This area is very quiet, and should we have the funds, we would come again!

Aside from the beautiful and peaceful location and the privacy and luxury of the villas, what distinguishes Purana is the service. The staff are wonderful – they're welcoming and amiable and genuine and they want to help. Purana is the perfect place for a romantic stay away from the crowds of larger neighbouring islands, such as Phuket. The food is lovely, there is a beach bar across the road, bike and scooter hire is cheap and Koh Yao Noi is a stunning island with a relaxed and gentle pace. There are opportunities for day trips to nearby, beautiful islands. The villas are impressive – ours had a magnificent view, it was roomy and the plunge pool was a treat. Very highly recommended and a highlight of our Thailand trip.

The photos don’t do this hotel justice. The villas are very comfortable, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated, as well as private. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We slept well and took taxis mostly along the western side of the island. There isn’t a whole lot within walking distance of the resort, so either a scooter or taxi will be important if you want to get out and eat/drink elsewhere.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and experience at Purana - the view was incredible, the food was delightful, the rooms were updated and very clean - and their staff made you feel very welcomed, like family. We also took the boat tour offered through the hotel and had an amazing experience with our guide snorkeling and visiting local islands. Thank you, Purana!

I did not stay here but we went for sunset as the view is stunning, i think the best out of all. Its quiet and cozy.. with a giant swing to enjoy coconut juice. Would love to come stay here sometime. Very Romantic!

We had a fantastic stay in Villa 1 (pool Villa at the top). It is completely private and has stunning view. They have their own taxi service (400-500 Bath return to the other side of the island), but you can also rent a scooter, mountain bike or kayak. They serve great breakfast and authentic Thai food. The hotel beach bar (Chill out bar) serves fantastic cocktails. Most of all the staff is just wonderful. Highly recommended!

This place has been amazing. I enjoyed the quiet location, the sunset over the ocean, the beautiful design of the rooms and the services. People working there are always very helpful and very kind. Food is delicious. Every day they will do new decorations at the dining place. The experience overall was beautiful.

This is a fantastic resort. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious both at breakfast and evening meal. It is in a great location for sunset. Rooms are superb and the bed is very comfortable. Heated swimming pool with great views. They also have a chill out bar on the beach (which shows nightly movies on a projector). The owner and staff really do make you feel welcome. Would highly recommend staying here.

An unforgettable experience - lovely location on the quieter side of the island where you can see the sunset every night.

The most friendly staff ever who arranged for a hotel taxi for us to and from the pier which was a super convenient.

We rented a great scooter from the hotel. The process was really easy and I think getting around on the scooter was what made our trip to the island so memorable.

Absolutely amazing experience. We stayed in Villa 1 for the first 5 nights of our honeymoon and it was the best place we stayed on our whole trip. The perfect resort to unwind, rest, enjoy BREATHTAKING views and delicious food. The staff are attentive, kind, and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. The villa itself is the most beautiful place we've ever stayed and we saw the famous Hornbill birds in the woods/rubber trees next to the villa. As far as access, the whole island is pretty small so while there's not a lot to reach within walking distance, you can easily get around by renting a bike or motorbike from purana. It also felt more serene because we were away from the main town and tourist areas. If you're looking for an impeccable place to stay to unwind, be in nature, enjoy delicious food, service, and unbeatable views, this is 100% the place.

Quiet spot but it's so lovely here we did not venture out except for dinner, took a taxi for dinner to Rice Paddy which was fab, you need to book

Purana was amazing. I stayed in villa 1 for part of my honeymoon. Truly private. The service you get from the staff is astounding. Everything you Can possibly need they can provide at a very reasonable price. For example expeditions to neighboring islands, motorbike even flip flops if u need them. Again the customer service was impeccable. Thank you Purana team!!!

Awesome resort, Awesome sunset views, seaside villas were excellent, tasty included breakfast. Some of the nicest, most helpful staff I have ever encountered. Location is a bit far from town, beaches, etc (20-30 minute scooter), but the resort made transportation very easy (port pickup/drop off, and scooter/ bike rentals were available at the resort). Also very nice pool.

This place is simply the best place of our 2 weeks trip in Thailand. We booked the villa 1 and lived a dream during 5 days. Special thanks to the team for their infinite kindness and help for everything we needed. I really hope the people who read this message will be lucky enough to expriment a stay in Purana Hotel. Amazing Views across Phang Nga Bay from Purana Resort Koh Yao Noi.

We decided to start our trip at Purana to get a relaxing start to our adventure to Thailand and Purana did not disappoint! Once you arrive and settle in you seriously do not want to leave 😄

The staff are all so friendly, professional and attentive to all their guests. Very informative and make sure your requests are quickly responded to.

We are currently staying in Villa 2 at the top of the hill and the views are breath taking! You walk up to the front door and are just blown away by an uninterrupted view across the bay and the islands that surround Koh Yao Noi.

Villa 2 is just beautiful, comfy in every way and super clean. The staff here at Purana keep this place in very beautiful condition. Even the gardens that surround the Villa are so rich and lush making it feel like a real jungle escape with pure luxury to enjoy. Did I mention the views 😳👌

Food:
Breakfast has a large selection to choose from and the staff are always making sure they’ve met your expectations, very satisfied with this even with me only eating vegetarian there was definitely enough.

Lunch was a bit confusing, still working that part out. When we arrived it was lunchtime and we were given a menu, a different style of menu with a local twist. We ordered and had a really great meal, but would have really loved the option for a spicy Thai vegetarian curry but this option wasn’t given to us. The next night we ate at the resort and presented with the same menu again.. then 5 minutes later another menu was handed to us, this was EXACTLY what we were looking for!! Thai Green Curry, Panang Curry, Thai Fried Rice and even freshly made Thai vegetarian spring rolls! Absolutely delicious (Aroi Maak). The second menu (Purana Resort Menu) had a great selection of Thai food. The food was absolutely amazing and we enjoyed every mouth full and looking forward to that again tonight 🙏

Points to note:
Purana is about 10 minutes drive into town if you want to sample some other food, Purana offer a paid taxi service to town and wait for you so they can return you when finished. You can also rent a scooter if that’s your style. But… in saying this, you could literally stay in the resort and enjoy some peaceful downtime with plenty of food and drink options. Villa 1 & 2 are on top of a steep hill, quite and easy walk down, little bit tough going up but Purana have electric golf buggies to take you up to your room! Super happy about that after a few curries and a few beers 😆🤣🙏

Villa 2 is so peaceful to just sit overlooking the infinity pool and across the bay listening to the vast array of birds including large eagles and hornbills. We even spotted a family of monkeys walking through the gardens as they crossed through to another section of the jungle. Storm watching was also fun as we watched the tail end of the wet season storms roll and rumble across the bay.

All in all.. our stay has been really awesome so far, sadly tomorrow we will leave the comfort of Purana and head to Koh Yao Yai for a few days.

I was fortunate enough to stay here for two weeks in Villa 1, which has mesmerizing views. The property is attractive, comfortable, and very well-maintained. The staff are outstanding - they could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Readily-available scooters are probably the best way to get around this low-key, beautiful, friendly island, although I managed very well with local taxis.

We had a 3 night stay where we were the only guests in the resort, obviously due to the covid downturn as its a fantastic place. We stayed in a garden villa, the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was cooked to order, we ate lunch there one day as well and it was great quality at a reasonable price. Didn't swim in the pool as for us the weather wasn't especially hot but the sunset viewing platform is brilliant, what a great idea. Money has been spent in the development of the resort, it's all nicely done. Would definitely go back and stay here again. It's a little out of the way but we had a motorbike to get around on so it was fine for us.

Super friendly, most beautiful view from your room. feels like family.

Our experience was absolutely perfect from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Beautiful rooms, friendly and helpful staff and absolutely spectacular views. They arranged all of our transportation with day-long, once in a lifetime experiences. Private massages and yoga in the treetops overlooking the water and unbelievable meals prepared on site of local food. I rarely travel to the same place twice and can’t wait to go back.

We stayed here on our honeymoon. I cannot speak highly enough about our experience here. It is a small resort with a handful of villas, some of the villas have their own infinity pool.
Our Villa was impeccably clean, with comfortable beds, pillows, and sheets. The air-conditioning system was brand new and we had total control over the temp in our villa. In addition our villa had a full kitchen with fridge, stove, and microwave.
The villa was nestled into a hillside with unparalleled west facing views of Phang Nga Bay. It was like waking up to a postcard every morning.

The staff shuttled us to and from the villa so we didn't have to hike up the steep hillside if we weren't feeling it. They booked us private island tours at reasonable prices and even called ahead to our next destination to ensure our transfer was smooth. They have a small restaurant on-site with an incredibly fresh menu. We had breakfast here every day and dinner several nights during our stay.

We stayed here in the off-season, had great weather, and saw few other tourists during our entire stay on the island. The locals were like one giant family that welcomed us graciously into their island paradise. We can't thank them enough for making our trip truly once in a lifetime.
