Beautiful architecture, sculptures, and paintings. The chapel building is in Thai traditional style with quite unique ceramic decoration on the outside. Its shrine is a very large elephant building decorated with ceramic mosaics, reminiscent of Gaudi style, starting with a 19-head nagas bridge. Within the shrine, several sculptures and paintings are there. Six large masterpiece paintings are on its first floor showing major events in Siddhartha Gautama's life and his ministry. This is a must-see if you come to Korat.

A beautiful temple 🛕 and a beautiful place. In touch with today's modern world, and with the wisdom of the past. If you want, you can learn a lot in just one visit to this temple. To learn humility, respect, understanding and love. from the scene in the temple, you can also see the dangers of modern times. I wish everyone to find themselves. To live in the present. To understand their values and role in the earthly life. Love, peace, and understanding to everyone.

Travelling about 4 hours from Bangkok, you will reached this amazing temple (Wat Ban Rai) and museum of Luang Phor Koon.
The entrance of the museum has a statue of Luang Phor Koon, both side with 2 statue of Naga.

Amazing temple that contains a museum dedicated to Luang Phor Koon. Murals inside the elephant-like shrine highlights how Buddhism evolved. There are statues of Buddha and Luang Por Koon at the rooftop. Some people rub their wallets and handbags at the foot of the statue, believing to bring wealth. There is also a mini stick attached to the statue for believers to knock on their heads, a signature of Luang Por's teachings.

In the centre of a man made pond, stands an elephant-liked ceramic shrine alongside an, by no means ordinary, wat—or temple. The shrine is beautifully decorated with enameled tiles. On the roof top, to where you are able to walk up, are the statue of a walking Buddha and that of Luang Pho Khun. Surrounding the building one finds depictions of Buddhism's sacred texts. The shrine is Asia's largest ceramic mosaic shrine with more than 20 million pieces of mosaic.

5th May 2019. This is a MUST SEE LIST. Immense multi-coloured Elephant/Turtle structure. A very close second place on my list of top Wats in Northern Thailand, just behind Wat Rong Seur Ten in Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai. Artwork and statues all have colour, depth, and detail almost unmatched except for Wat Bo Kaeo in Bo Kaeo, Na Muen District, Nan but that is much smaller. The modern art inside is of the same high quality and tells the Buddhist story. You must allow at least a number of hours to take in all that is here. Added to that is the traditional older main Temple and its design and detail. There are also a number of other structures here to study but view the photos and visit yourself.

About two hours north of Khon Kaen, you'll find one of Thailand's hidden gems in the middle of nowhere (although Ratchasima is not far). Have have been to temples all over the country to include the Blue and White Temples, Temple of Truth, Silver temples of Chang Mai. I have to say, this was worth the trip. It reminds me of the Blue Temple as far as art and design. I loved it! There is so much going on in the murals and sculptures that adorn the outside of the temple; there are Hindu, Buddhist, and possibly more references. The basement looks like you could have a rave party, while the rest is like a museum on the floors above. The giant Naga statues at front are amazing! I've wanted to go here for years, and am glad I finally made the trip.

Amazing monument to Buddhism. Head monk was very famous. Inside the giant erawan is a artistic representation of all things Buddhist. Well worth a look if you are in this part of the country.

There are not many temples which I would recommend to visit. But Ban Rai is a temple you should see. Don't forget to take a look at ocean world in the basement. There is no entrance fee.

Thailand has some of the most beautiful and amazing temple structures and giant Buddha statues.

But the one to crown them all is Wat Ban Rai, (วัดบ้านไร่), the Disneyland of Buddhist temples, and in its own way, quite colourful and psychedelic; certainly it is not in the traditional style.

The whole temple is covered with interesting artwork, mosaics, paintings and sculptures, the focus being on local, Hindu and Buddhist beliefs with a modern twist. Allegedly over 20,000,000 pieces of broken ceramics make up the mosaics that appear in many colours throughout the temple and its art.

Wat Ban Rai is a little over 260kms from Bangkok, and the journey time by car would be around three and a half hours. It is definitely a full day's trip, but especially worthwhile if combined with an overnight or two in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). The temple hours are 8am to 5pm and admission is free, but like most Thai temples, donations are accepted throughout the grounds.

It was not a sunny day when we visited, but many hawkers were there selling food, souveniers, and dresses. It is a very colorful and impressive temple elephant. There are many wall paintings and statues around the giant elephant. The location is very Pittoreque. Apart from the elephant temple there are many other artistic temples in gold and silver
