Beautifullu restoration of this old castle including plenty of relics inside. On top of it all (literally) from its tower, there's a 360 degree view over the historic city of Trenčin, the industrial side of the city and if you have a good zoom lense, you can also see the majority of its football pitch 😀

A very beautiful Middle Ages castle, which is visible from the station. Now there is an active stage of restoration, so not all rooms are allowed into. Inspection of the castle itself took 2 hours

Definitely worth visiting. Trenčín castle is located above the Trenčín old town overlooking Váh river. First fortress was built around 9th century and the main castle in 11th. There are two entrances to the castle. Main one through the old town or southern walls one via the gardens. Road to the main entrance is quite steep and it took us around 15 minutes. Second entrance is accessible by sightseeing train. We used it on the way back. Entry to the castle wasn't expensive and there are two types of tickets. Cheaper allowed us to walk around castle and entry to the tower. Other ticket is for guided tour and this one takes one and half hours to walk around and through the castle. Trenčín is easily accessible by the motorway or railway.

Absolutely amazing castle located on the hill overlooking Trencin. It's a must see and the main sight. Multiple ways to get up there from the city center. Can also take the tourist train to the top through the forest. It's worth the entry, not an exorbitant entry fee. Once inside you can explore all around, lots of area to visit. All offers great views of the countryside and city center. Dog welcome. Cafe inside too with great views. Definitely recommend!

Lovely views from this beautiful castle, beware there is a very steep hill to climb to get there but well worth it.

It is monumentally large, and the basic tour is also quite satisfactory.
If you look at everything, you can spend 2-3 hours.
I wholeheartedly recommend it!!
The Mládežnícka parking lot is free on weekends

I have a suggestion, go after 5:30, not only will you only need to spend 3 euros, but you will also get a beautiful view of the sunset, it is definitely worth the fare, believe me

Another castle in Slovakia. Why is this one different? Well first of all, it's probably the most available one from all of them (not counting Bratislava), get from train, 20 mins through city, and you are there. The castle itself is renovated and you can visit everything outside. The inside it's only available with a guide, which can be bothersome for non-slovak speakers, and thus you would either missed the explanation, or be forced to adapt your tempo to the guide. You can visit tower as it's the part of non-guide (smaller) ticket. The view from here is pretty nice, you see all the hills around and also nearly whole Trenčín. Overall the quality/view/price/availability/time is the best of all the castles I have ever been to.

Personally my favourite Slovak castle, as pretty from close up as from farther. The animals make it special and unique and it’s worth the money.

Well preserved grounds, different exhibitions in different parts of the castle with an amazing view from the watch tower if you dare to climb the endless narrow staircase, which is definitely worth an effort.

More than meets the eye! I loved squeezing through tiny doors and the spiral staircase at the top of the tower. Great to explore and wander around so much of the site. The view from the top down into the cloud was amazing.

We took the small steamer up every hour. You can take a return trip up and down. The castle is beautiful, but going up to the Matthias Tower is a bit of a climb.

Impressive, preserved castle. Should be on the list of castles to visit around Slovakia.
Perched on top of a hill overlooking the town. You have a lot of amazing panoramic views of the center as well as a great panoramic view of the region.

Trencin Castle is definitely worth your visit. Their website describes very well how to get to the castle. There are two main entrances, one from town side and one from the Brezina forest park side. If you come by car I definitely recommend you to park for free at Mestskej krytej plavárni which is only about 15-20 minutes walk to the castle. It is worth do buy the ticket with the guide as he/she will take you to some places which are not otherwise accessible. The ticket is also valid for 7 days to visit other attractions including executioner's house and ossuary which are just below the castle on the path to the town center.

Beautiful castle with nice views over Trencin and the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, it's currently not possible to enter the main castle building because of reconstruction work. Therefore, the entry price was reduced. However, there is still a lot to see and I especially liked that there are lots of signs giving detailed background information in English.

Great Castle but what was even better were the people working at the castle! The Trencin castle is really unique. Everyone who loves military history has to visit this castle. Original purpose of this castle, which was to keep the Lord safe, was not changed during the safer times of the 18.th and 19.th century. The castle walls are as thick as they used to be, ditches are still there and defence lines are still ready. The main tower has the same narrow and steep stairs leading to the top and lord's room is still small and not very comfortable. It is like time machine. In the southern fortification lines you feel like in Helm's deep and you think what kind of force would have to be used to destroy them. I was impressed. But I was also impressed by people who work there. Everyone was friendly and helpful to their max. I forgot my postcards that I bought at the cash register and the man who sold them to me brought them to me all the way to the city! I could not believe it! I want to say thank you this way again. Really, I was impressed. Thank you for making my visit of this castle even better than I expected! Parking lot is at the edge of the main square and there are three main ways to walk there leading to two entrances - entrance from the Peace square and the second one was from Forest Park Breziny(it was closed). I chose the longest but also the easiest one, there were no stairs, I went past the executor's house. The other two ways up include stairs. The whole visit of the castle is family friendly, you can even use stroller to see majority of the castle (all the way to Jeremy's Bastion. Oh, I can't forget to mention the wonderful views on the whole Trenčín city and the whole area. I highly recommend to visit this castle, it is definitely one of the most impressive castles in Slovakia, a must see!
