A picturesque but massive fortress. Truly special. Remember to buy tickets in the village, at the foot of the hill! Very interesting exhibitions both about the history of the castle and the lifestyle. Download the app for a free audio guide.

Awesome castle, I recommend to reserve at least 2 hours to visit. Guided tour, which takes you to the highest part of the castle is totally worth it.
It can be challenging for some people to go all the way up by the stairs, but if you can manage a short walk in the hills, you can manage this without problems.
You need to book your tickets in advance for a specific time, couple of days in advance is enough.

Fantastic. Amazing. Interesting. Breathtaking. Awesome.
Fully recommend this wonderful castle. Easy to climb; each floor reveals some new wonder and a chance to prepare for the next flight of stairs!
The views from the top are mind-blowing!
I cannot recommend this attraction strongly enough. Enjoy!

Absolutely gorgeous medieval caste with authentic chambers and breathtaking views on the surrounding mountains and villages. No actual organized tours and times to enter: The tickets sold 5 mins walk from the castle and one can select from the 3 options. One can then enter at any time after ticket is purchised. Paid parking lot is available nearby the castle for 7 euros / car.

Our family loved this castle! It’s the perfect medieval castle with an amazing history perched on top of a rock and a must see if you are in the country. Lots of movies filmed here. It is definitely a hike, so fuel up with breakfast and coffee before you go. Purchase tickets right at the bottom and then start the walk up. It’s a self tour, and we spent about 1.5-2 hours looking around. There are castle guides in the different areas to answer any questions you may have. Afterwards we were very hungry and there were a few wonderful restaurants at the bottom and we recommend Restauracia pod hradom (read my review there).

I came on a Friday late morning in June and was so surprised by how few tourists. How lucky for me--the weather was perfect, too. I bought the "big tour" for 16 Euro (including photo-taking) and it was a nice experience. I recommend that you download the audio guide--there is so much to learn about this fascinating, well-maintained historical site.
Some of the signage is confusing. Also, a note of caution: even if you pay the extra 3 Euro to take photos, there are still places where you are prohibited.
There are a lot of people working here, but they seem to be more concerned about checking your type of ticket and monitoring you like you're going to do something wrong, than actually helping you. However, I will say that the woman who works in the armory exhibit was the highlight of my visit. She was SO kind and friendly, I could hardly believe it! I don't speak Slovak but I used Czech, and she didn't mind at all (unlike most everyone else in town who seems to be offended by this). She and I talked and talked, and she even gave me advice about a folklore festival in Podbiel, as well as about the Dracula film.
I'm giving 5 stars because of this lovely woman who really made me feel welcome!

I recommend the longest tour, this castle is amazing. The staff is very helpful, downloaded the audioguide app which was full of information, easy to use. A must have experience

Magnificent castle, it feels like some kind of vertical labyrinth inside.
Interiors is not the most interesting, but castle and location itself unique and worth a visit, one of Slovakian gems for sure

I really enjoyed my visit here. If you dont want to take a guided tour then the app is a very useful tool to use, as you go round you can use the app to talk to you, or you can read the description.
There are 3 different tours depending on how much of the castle you want to visit, and there are about 800 steps in total, so be prepared for some climbing!

Visited by the chance on our way, interesting place , there is an app to download with the possibility to have explanations in your language. We took the Big tour including all the areas for 33.5 euro (2 adults+2 kids), would recommend to take this if you are already getting inside and navigate with the app.

One of my favorites or maybe the favorite castle in Slovakia. The prices are good for what this castle has to offer. It's quite big and takes a while to see it all.

This is the nicest most interesting best views castle I have seen. Lots of stairs and climbing but you need to get high to get the best views😉

Really beautiful and lovely place. You must see / visit it. Great guide. Circle A+B is a little bit difficult for very young and older people. There are so many steps but vievs are amazing. Go, it is unforgettable.

Amazing castel with a fabulous view from the top section. The castel itself is in great shape and well looked after. It is totally recommended to see if you are nearby!
PS. If you want to buy souvenirs from the nearby stands, you need to pay in cash! Paying with card is no possible. Paying with card is only accessible for the parking spot and tickets for the castle!

Amazing old castle - it was a fun 2-hour trip with our 2- and 3- year old kids. The castle is built on a small area, yet so we’ll preserved and full of beautiful decorations, wall paintings and carved wooden furniture. Definitely recommend if your children are into castles, knights and dragons :)
We took the A tour (individually), was perfect for our group. 9 eur / adult.

Didn't go inside the castle, just stopped for some drone shots. The castle though looked beautiful from the outside. Few parking lots nearby. Need to walk up the castle.

In many a Top 10 Slovakia lists. Well deserved as it is a very lovely place with some history thrown in.

Well preserved, nice audio guide app, fairly expensive but worth it when you consider how much you are seeing.
