Budatín castle

My friend had there a wedding and it was beautiful. It is beautiful and even has a museum. It's a historical gem nestled on the banks of the Váh River. Imposing and well-preserved, it offers a captivating glimpse into Slovakia's rich heritage. The castle's exhibits showcase centuries of history, from medieval times to modern exhibitions. The surrounding park and river views add to its charm.

Great castle with lot of charm

Large park surrounding the castle is nice for a short walk and sitting on a bench. Castle has some nice expositions and great view from the tower.

My kids (7, 6, 4, 2) and I loved the tinkers exposition, so unique. We went to the main building (fabulous entry hall) with the history/archeology/old toys/furniture exposition. We did not order a guided your as it would be long for the kids. Anyway, the guides stopped us at the the top spots in the museum and have us some information anyway, they could adjust the speech to small kids and it was fun for everyone.
The museum now cooperates with a Bulgatian artist who upcycles old electric appliances and makes " funny robots" out of it. So much fun for kids whilst cruising the exposition, it gave them the extra twist so they were looking for these robots everywhere and were excited to go the next room and the next.
The view tower is very pretty. You can see the confluence of two rivers in one corner of the garden.
We loved the park with old trees as well.
Nice for a walk or museum time with the smallest as well.

One of the best castles in Slovakia.

Price is fair, you can see a lot of history and the costumer service is the best. I appreciate it so much !

Small but nice castle. It's very well renovated. The park next to the castle is huge and nice for a picnic.

We really enjoyed our visit. A nice park which is free and a small castle and exhibition available for 5 euros. The exhibition set through the rooms of the castle was very informative and the staff were fantastic with several speaking excellent English and very keen to share their knowledge. Very well laid out ending with a climb up 100 plus steps to a tower with panoramic views. A small tea room outside with good beer soft drinks and food. Again the staff here were amazing . Highly recommended.
We loved the over shoes to protect the new oak flooring!!

Very nice castle, great tour guide and on Sundays there is a musician playing the harp :) Awesome :)

Good place, nice park, it’s shadows really help when it’s 32-35 Centigrade. Museum is informative and not boring, but only about 10% items have descriptions in English, the rest are Slovak only. This is a minor problem for me, speaking Ukrainian and Polish I can guess a lot in Slovak, but it can be a challenge for others.

Great historic place, but also great place to do a picnic and as a local tip... the inner walls that sorround the castle are used to do some bouldering and climbing.

Lovely park for a walk and/or picnic. There's a lovely looking café in the castle grounds too, but I did not visit. Didn't pay for the ticket to go inside the castle either, but I'm sure it's worth it.

Nice piece of history sitting in the city center. Surrounded by beautiful park full of trees. Next to river Váh and Kysuca. You can grab a coffee in the castle cafeteria, visit a museum of wire craft, make a picnic on the grass or just walk through the park and admire old trees of various spieces. The most beautiful park in the city in my opinion.
We like to take our kids here. Although there is no kids playground they can leap on the trees or throw frisbee and they do net tend to go away from you.

Expert docent...her explanations were deep...intelligent. delivered with sincerity and a sense of humor...do not miss this wonderful ancient castle..museum former home of nobility... we did not try the cafe restaurant.. wish we ha...perhaps on our next visit to Sloakia...Zilina...superb...charming. .very close to city center...a short bus ride will get you there

Great castle it is truly magnificent I loved every bit of the tour. We even went to the top of the tower the view was brilliant you could see Žillina city at the top. During the tour they had a lot to tell us about. It even had a lot of bicycle trails. Budatìnsky castle is super nice.

Very old castle with remarkable tower. Some parts are in need of reconstruction but the other parts are amazing. The park belonging to the castle is awesome. If you are in Žilina, must visit this charming place.

Visit restaurant,great service,very nice friendly server,quick all clean overall feeling great experience. Top of the visit,Ice coffe with ice cream, delicious.
