Veľká Fatra National Park

I live nearby the national park but it was only recently I visited. I must say it's one of the most beautiful ones we have in Slovakia. The ascending can be challenging, but once you get on the top, you'll enjoy beautiful views and sceneries. Plan your trip according to weather conditions, and definitely bring proper high hiking boots (lots of rocks, roots, and slippery surfaces)

One of the best national parks in Slovakia. For true nature lovers. Is maybe not that spectacular as high tatras, but offers the quiet retrieve in nature, with much less tourists if you are into this kind of thing.

Veľká Fatra is special by its nature and beautiful sightseeings. A lot of animals live there and we had the special occasion, when the deers had their mating season.

Very beautiful place to go with friend also with kids. I would recommend this place . Very pretty fauna and flora. Don't drink the water out of this pond. LEN PRE TEN POCIT ÚŽASNÉ #PEACE

One of the very dear places to me. Plenty of shelters/cabins to sleep when trekking for multiple days, which are open all year round.
Also ideal place for trail running with its grassy ridge.

One of the last few large untouched natural areas in Middle Europe.
Relatively long valleys are suitable habitats for wild fauna (including brown bear, lynx or grey wolves) and flora, some of which are endemitic. Water plays major role in wild life, bit a long timescale has been able to form beautiful sceneries mainly along valleys of Gaderska and following Dedosova. Hills of Ostra, Tlsta, Kozi Vrch and Kralova Skala. The wildest regions are not accessible for visitors due to reserve protection level 5 (of 5). Despite this, common tourist routes are picking the pinnacle of possible viewing sceneries and offers real feeling being lost in Carpathian wilderness.
If you are a mutliple day backpackers you may find several possibilities to sleep in tourist shelters, shepard logs or even tourist huts such as Mountain Hotel Kralova Studna, Chata (hut) pod Borosovom, Mountain Hotel Smrekovica.
