Salaš - koliba Syrex

Glorious traditional Slovakian experience in a beautiful setting with jaw-dropping views! My only complaint would be the beer which was a bit stale. Great food, service and atmosphere all around and a reasonable uncomplicated menu.

We walked in and immediately loved it. We booked several rooms online in Koliba Syrex for our little wedding venue. And it was the best spot that we could choose. Koliba is on the top of the hill, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Little Fatra National Park.
The main building is modern and in the traditional Slovak style. The staff is amazing, and the food soo delicious. Love it! We first planned to stay there only for one night, but we were so satisfied that we booked another night for us and our family.
There is also a shop with traditional meat and milk products in the main building, so you can buy and take some treats home.
We also attended a cheese-making course, probably a highlight for the whole family. We had such a great time in Koliba Syrex, so I can only recommend it to everyone nearby or only passing by.

Delicious traditional Slovak cuisine in a rustic and warm atmosphere. Besides the restaurant and delicious food, there's a deli with sheep and goat cheeses, yogurts and locally made bacon and sausage. Watch the ladies make the cheese and gnocki. Great food, great experience.

Slovak traditional food, it's homemade and tastes delicious. During lunch peak hours it can be difficult to get a table. There is also a kid corner inside and nice swings outside. Especially liked the shop with fresh milk products, from cow, sheep and goat milk. It certainly worth stopping here.

Came back to this place after 5 years and it has remained one of the best traditional Slovak cuisine restaurant in the area. Wonderful halušky and sheep cheese soup (both with lots of actual sheep cheese) accompanied by beautiful surroundings

Some waitresses looked bored during our order, which affected the rather exceptional atmosphere of this place.

Good traditional slovak meals. Beautiful chalet with traditional wooden details. Shop with their products on site / typical sheep cheese and cheese products, honey, lamb products.../

Beautiful place with a nice view of the mountains. Food was typical Slovakian, which I can recommend. Prices are a little higher, but it's worth every single euro.

This was excellent food, service was prompt and the warm atmosphere with outdoor kids playground and indoor kids corner was the best choice

If you have cow's milk intolerance like me and you want a fried cheese then this is it. Bernard beer is a very nice touch. This was my second visit after 4 years. I almost forgot to mention the view on the hills. 🙂

Very lovely place, with a great view and great food. Definitely recommend this one to visit, above other salaš(es) in the neighborhood. Beside the fact, that bryndzové halušky could have tasted a little more after bryndza was everything more than alright with this place.

Amazing location in a picturelike nature surroundings with everything one could wish for! Great breakfast and traditional Slovak food (EVERYTHING you eat is from their own farm!!) with possibility to buy all the homemade, best quality products- we enjoyed the long walks around and will definitely come back.

I consider Syrex as the best place for halušky in Slovakia, and trust me I have already tried a lot of places :). The folkloric atmosphere is also very pleasant inside ans authentic. The staff is kind and fast. Also, what makes the place entertaining is the possibility to visit their farm and buy quality products in their shop from the farm and the region with plenty of choices. Amazing food that I'd mostly made in house. They have a farm on the other side of the road so would be a missed opportunity not to use their own products.
Food tasted amazing though the prices are a little higher than you would usually pay for it in a classic slovak salaš.
Interior is traditional and really well maintained.
