Nice dam on Danube river, biggest in Slovakia. Watching ships pass it is kinda interesting but the views from the tower on the dam are even better. Worth checking in out if you are traveling around. Plus there is a place to sit and enjoy the sun if you want to be lazy a bit.

Just went through this lock. Kinda freaky, cement walls on either side of the ship triggered my clostrophobia. But I calmed down as the water rose. Extremely interesting!

It is special place in Slovakia on river Danube. Offers small parking place and walk around with nice views or water-dam technology.
All kinds of ships can be seen.

World biggest river lock.
I was one of the designers.

Well, it's a hydroelectric power plant. It's huge.

The Dam and the Lock, which are currently partially under re-construction are worth visiting (even if under construction). One chamber of the Lock is working, the other one being repaired. The frequency of Danube river transport is sufficient enough to observe the real traffic - ship coming in, water in/out, the ship leaving the chamber. It´s a fascinating theater for kids as well as for adults.
Highly recommend visiting the Control Tower - few stairs and you can observe both shores as well as the overall Gabčikovo water work. On a windy day be careful - the wind is so strong up on the tower - you can lose your hat or cap ;-)

This is the second largest locke in Europe, rising or descending 58 feet.

Awesome place! I could stand there for hours just watching the ships and the incredible mechanics of the locks. Breath taking views and a very festive atmosphere generally. Highly recommend.

Awesome place still under construction. The worls should be finished by 2020. Definitelly worth a visit if you are at least a little into technical marvels of our times.

You can't imagine how huge it is until you are forced to drive by for more than half an hour. Highly recommended for all tech enthusiasts
