Though it was created for a movie, the tiny village is realistic and beautiful. A variety of Serbian traditional houses exist. Numerous restaurants within the village. A souvenir shop with different things to sell. Not more than 2 hours of time is required if you don't get into a restaurant. Free parking is next to it.

Great atmosphere and a lot of great views. It will take about 1.5 hours to see everything.

True reflection of the culture that existed. But now it is a resort and you can certainly enjoy stay, environment and lifestyle.

This is a beautiful stop for a few hours. We had an amazing guide that gave us the story behind this stop and we had lunch. It is also a hotel with a pool and hair salon. Unfortunately we could watch the movie before out tour but still had an amazing time and learned a lot about the religion and way of life.

This place is amazingly cute. We visited in the evening, when a lot of it was closed, unfortunately, but it was a nice to see the place mostly free of tourists. We didn't pay an entrance (probably because it was passed 8PM).

It's a nice walk from when you enter and in between all the little houses. There are a lot of good photo opportunities, but the location and the quietness of the place is what makes it really beautiful.

What an amazing artificial village made from wood ~ just like in the past people used to build!

Küstendorf ~ also known as Drvengrad and Mećavnik, is a traditional village that the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica built for his film Life Is a Miracle from 2003 to 2004.

It is located near the village of Mokra Gora in western Serbia ~ administrative area of Užice.

Please be advised if you are coming here with your car ~ not the tour bus:
there are signs on your way and don’t miss sharp turn towards here. The road is narrow, it goes all the way up in the mountain!
Once you arrived here, you will be able to park ~ since there is designated parking place on the entrance of the village and you’ll pay an entrance fee ~ which is really something symbolic, acceptable and cheap.

This beautiful artificial village has among many things:

~ library, named after Ivo Andrić:
world known serbian writer who got Nobel Prize in Literature.

~ there is the Stanley Kubrick Theater, a sports hall, a restaurant, a cake shop, as well as a souvenir shops and finally: the Main house as accommodation for Kusturica family and friends with all the amenities you can think of!

The middle of the village has the Serbian Orthodox Church dedicated to Holy Sava.
It’s very beautiful and worth seeing! ❤

The streets in the village are named after very famous individuals that Kusturica holds in high esteem or finds them to be personally significant: Nikola Tesla, Miodrag Petrović Čkalja, Novak Djokovic, etc. and: Ivo Andrić, after whom the main street is named.

Nearby is also the ski resort ~ so visitors can enjoy some extra activities during winter!

There are many stands with local products like clothes, marmelades and homemade rakija. You can check it out, especially because there are many different types and salesmen will be happy to give you a sip in order to try them out. They are not expensive, but they are excellent quality and they make a great gift or souvenir!

The view from this little wooden village almost at the top of the mountain is extremely pleasant and you can enjoy it while sitting in one of the restaurants!~ enjoying your food and drinks!

We enjoyed our visit very much, stayed here for couple of hours wondering around, taking pictures, shopping and dining.

Prices are acceptable, staff / people are very kind and nice ~ very helpful ~ and most of them beside native serbian languages speak english and other languages.

I highly recommend visiting this unique artificial Wooden village ~ Drvengrad-Mećavnik!

Thank youuuuu! ❤❤❤

Great small village made with wooden houses in the middle of the Tara park and also very close to the Border of Bosnia. It is really nice to visit but you can also rent a small hunt to sleep. There are restaurants, shops, etc… it’s really cozy and charming.

Wooden village or Timber city — a must place to visit if you are in Mokra Gora. Mokra Gora is village in western Serbia and you can’t miss DRVENGRAD by any chance. The city was a set for movie & kept as it is.
If you love art & music, this is place for you. During summer time, they conduct musicals n festivals. It’s beautiful, they have Serbian traditional restaurants inside. Entry fees is 2£. You can walk around and see. Great place

Just wow! Awesome place! It’s not a museum and also not a village - something between this. The greatest Serbian views and interesting installations you will see. Streets and squares are named in the honor of famous people. Every house is made of wood, and flowers - they’re everywhere. Very impressive!

Everything is interesting-from walking paths, rental apartments, church, old cars, restaurant, pastry, souvenir shop. We enjoyed totally this foggy November day!

A place built by patronage of serbian movie producer Emir Kusturica. Lots of wooden cottages on the mountain. Perfect place to rest, eat and enjoy the view. There are apartments, hotel with a pool, several restaurants and pubs, a church, shops.... We had lunch there. Food was ok. Prices are moderate. Lack of parking spaces though.
