Very clean, well organised, with a super friendly guard, who seems to love that place. A free app that gives audio stories about the sites as you visit them is available at the entrances, after a quick scan of a qr code. I don't know if the staff speaks much English, but there are written instructions everywhere

A great place to visit. I was mesmerized by those historical informations and moments. We visited the Porolissum museum in a weekday. It's accessible by car, there is a parking lot for 10 to 20 cars maximum. In summer time you need something to protect yourself from the sunlight and a lot of water. The shortest trail to visit it's about 110 minutes. The trails are clean, no need for special shoes.

This place is absolutely amazing. I always find historycal places very atractive and this one is high up there. I didn't even know the place, one of my relatives told me about it and we went to visit it. I just love what they've done to the place. A lot of hard work must have been put in it's restoration. Also it's really good for a relaxing walk. Don't miss it.

Well preserved and some restorations makes this a unique place. Also, you can actually walk on to the Roman pathway, an approximately 2 millenia old road.

Everyone who's interested in history should explore this place. Too bad the site is not fully unearthed, there is plenty more to be discovered there and it could become a major tourist attraction.

This are the remains of a Roman fortress protecting the northern border of the Roman empire. The place is well preserved (especially a part of the Roman road, some of the walls and an amphitheater). The entry is cheap and you may electronically download an app for audio guidance. The visit will take about 2 hours. The place was difficult to find by me, as the Google maps guidance was not accurate

Interesting piece of history brought to the daylight. Park your car, download the app, pay the 6 lei entrance fee and wander through the open air museum following the audio guide. Enjoy the broad views around the place in a nice clear day.

Great place to visit. It is quiet and clean and really well preserved.
You can take a nice walk through the ruins and also read about important buildings and events that took place during Roman ocupation.

Great place for children and groups.

F-ing amazing, the acoustics are better than some of the modern theaters Romania has to offer. There is a free audio tour at the entrance witch is really good, and the view is amazing.

The citadel is the northeast Roman boarder from old Dacia. You can see how big was during that time and how many different building were constructed. The view is impressive, you can admire the surroundings, the beautiful hills. One of the towers are reconstructed as the original. The ticket is 5 RON.

To think this stronghold used to be the home for +5000 soldiers and villagers, visiting the Porolissum was a trip back in time for us.

The guardian was really nice and told us a bit about the history of the place, how this was the place where all the roads got connected to the "road to Rome".

We visited the place during a torrid summer day, so we did a bit of cardio on our way back from the amphitheater but it was really worth the effort, and if it weren't for the heat it would have been even more enjoyable.

The place is quite recently discovered and organised, and they have different pathways signaled (to make sure you won't get lost).

From what i heard, they also hold a festival each year, when the whole place is brought back to life, with actors showing the way people used to live during the Roman empire ( def on the #tochecklist).

The superb scenery is to die for and those huge rocks that are still holding as the pathway are really therapeutic for the feet ( especially if you dare walk barefoot on them!)

It's a great place to visit, the downside being that it lacks nearby accommodations ( only 1 place to rent rooms and 0 restaurants/bars in the village).

A bit more investment in on this part and this place could become a great hotspot, especially if they'd arrange some camp sites nearby the village.
The Porolissum fest seems like a great start to attract interested people, but if they can't find options nearby, they might be discouraged to even make the trip to the location.

Anyway, i'm really looking forward to make my way there again.
The tranquility and heritage this place holds, along with the beautiful view, it's really worth the roadtrip.
