Wonderful place to visit.
We love it.
We never thought we'd find such a great museum in such a small town.

This museum has on display a large part of the original carved stones and architectural elements from the Tropaeum Traiani monument and from the nearby city of Civitas Tropaensium. Designed like a lapidarium, the museum comprises numerous archaeological vestiges discovered on the premises. Along one side of the museum are the metopes, the lower and upper friezes, the pillars, battlements and parapet blocks of the festooned attic style. There is the huge statue of the trophy, the inscription and weapon frieze. For a 2 euros entrance fee this museum should be visited if you are in the area.

The museum is a must visit! The tour guide has presented the history with interesting details. My kid of 15 years old loved it.

The museum hosts the original basorelief and sculptures of the nearby Tropaeum Traiani war memorial monument.

We didn't expect much from a small town museum but it exceeded by far our expectations.
The thing is that they have this huge wall with the ancient metopes embedded in it. It's easy to understand, it's like a seamless stream.
Another thing is that it's cooler inside due to natural shadow, so you enjoy some comfort.
So yeah, it's worth seeing. :)

The museum is on the smallish side, but it's very interesting and definitely worth a visit. Together with the monument and the fortress it made for a great afternoon.

Beautiful Museum full of valuable roman artefacts with all the original stone basoreliefs, the metopes from the original monument Trophaeum Traiani from 106/108 c.e. Very well organised, fantastic natural light inside a tasteful building that gives a sense of scale of the monument. Nearby is the completely rebuilt monument and also the castrum on a hill, the latter having no entrance fee.

Even though quite remote, it is fascinating how well preserved some of the exhibits were, and how interesting the history of Romania is.
