Great building hosting many romanian painters like Luchian, Tonitza, Amman, Grigorescu, and also the famous sculptor Brancusi.

A place worth seen not only for the paintings, but also for the interior and exterior architecture of this very beautiful building!

Very nice museum first of all!
I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Titus Popovici( I hope I spelled right his name) who explained me the history and how the museum of Brancusi was created. Fantastic man, pasioned by his job and with a fantastic knowledge! Tip: when you go - meet him to have THE EXPERIENCE!

The ladies who work there are stalkers. Do not know anything about the exponates. The only phrase that they know is : "do not touch something" ... Awful! Such a big difference of iq and education between employees..
Also in the big museum there is a small and fat guy who is manager or something, he is screaming all the time to put somebody to do someting.

I loved more the underground museum tham the big museum just because of the staff.

Magnificent building from the beginning of 1900s, house for beautiful paintings from famous romanian painters like Nicolae Grigorescu and Theodor Palady. It also houses the Constantin Brancusi center, a very modern and nice center.

Decently sized collection in a beautiful building. Downstairs there’s a contemporary art display and several pieces by Constantin Brancusi, and upstairs each room is dedicated to one of the masters of Romanian painting (Aman, Grigorescu, Toniza and others).

The curatorial texts (on stands next to the doors of every room) are very good. Photos are allowed, and there is a coat check at the entrance.

Shaping the artistic culture of Romania, the paintings of Carol Popp de Szatmary, Nicolae Grigorescu, Theodor Pallady and Ion Țuculescu accompany a Sculpture Gallery dedicated to the world famous Constantin Brâncuși where Mademoiselle Pogany can be seen.
I highly suggest visiting this one, not only for the art but for the building which is by itself impressive
(NB: they only accept cash)

Even from the street, the Craiova Art Museum beckons with its architecture everyone who comes to the city! And when I went inside, I continued to admire the beauty of the interior. The museum is housed in the Constantin Mihail Palace. This palace was built from 1898 to 1907 according to the plans of French architect Paul Gottereau and belonged to a member of one of the richest families in Romania. The palace is decorated with Carrara marble stairs, Murano glass chandeliers, painted ceilings, partly gilded stucco, and Venetian mirrors, that delight every visitor.

The collection is not very large, but it shows how an art developed in Romania from the 18th to the early 20th century. There is the gallery dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși.  It also has a variety of paintings by Romanian masters such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Theodor Aman,
Vasile Popescu, Ștefan Luchian, and Theodor Pallady, together with some Romanian icons.

I recommend art lovers to visit this museum, when you visit Romania.

It is a particularly interesting museum that houses true masterpieces, treasures of national art. Here you can find a series of original paintings by Romanian masters, Aman, Grigorescu, Luchian and others. The museum itself is very well maintained and some rooms have extraordinary interiors.

What an amazing building! For me, I'm not a big fan of art however, for the pennies that it costs to enter, this palace is well worth a visit!!! Lovely staff who have an array of knowledge. Would recommend a visit!

One of the most beautiful buildings in the city, with a great variety of art: paintings and sculpture. You can see some of Brâncuși's works, like a bronze version of Madame Pogany or The Kiss
The building itself is a piece of art, the interior design is amazing

Good museum in a wonderful looking small palace, well curated with plenty of background and explanations in Romanian, a bit dark and stuffy but totally worth the entrance fee, one of the best sites of the city

The museum is hosted in a breathtaking & well preserved palace dating from the beginning of the XX century. It's worth visiting just for admiring the amazing arhitecture. The art comes as a bonus. The art collection is well organized and includes works by some of the most celebrated Romanian artists: Brâncuși, Theodor Aman, Tonitza, Grigorescu, Luchian and many more.
Bonus points for the modern Brâncuși center, that definitely deserves a look.
