Sâmbăta de Sus Monastery

Splendid views and peaceful atmosphere!

A beautiful and quiet place with a great blessing and a pleasure to step on its doorstep. The monastery is very clean and tidy, including its surroundings. With an open-air altar made by Sf. Pr. Arsenie Boca. In the back of Monastery is a lake with fish that gives you peace of mind and a positive charge. I'll let you find out more. I warmly recommend this Monastery.

The monastery is extremely beautiful and the landscape breathtaking. The museum is definitely worth a visit. I would come back any day now, especially when they are celebrating mass.

Interesting, quiet place, beautiful chapel, museum is displaying many old icons and manuscripts. Possibility to purchase beautiful icons, sculpted or painted on glass and wood.

A nice, quiet place next to Fagaras mountains. An enchanted place, where you can find peace from the normal stress. You can also visit the church, there are three of them. No entry fee.

One of the most amazing monasteries in Romania. From the spectacular architecture in the Brancovenesc style to the monastery grounds, everything is just Heavenly!

Accidentally stumbled upon this gem by following road signs. Driving there is a stunning sight as you creep closer towards the mountains.
The monastery itself is gorgeous and nestled beautifully before a canvas of mountains, which makes for stunning pictures.
Definitely worth the detour!

Where man is closer to God. Serene place. Must see church with history galore

One of the most impressive Romanian monuments from the Southern part of Transylvania, this is an active Orthodox monastery, originally build at the end of 17th century. Feel free to visit this site, as the views towards the mountains, stories, legends and architecture brings a real deal for an interested traveller.

A holy spot, beautiful landscapes and fine scenary. A place for relaxation, introspection and meditation. My obligatory August break for several years now.

Beautiful place withe religious and country inventory, church, museum and lake. Arsenie Boca builded the place, after was destroyed by the Catholic messengers, who killed the orthodox monks, around 1785...

This place is truly an oasis of peace, the air is incredibly clean and the architecture of the place is in the true Brancovean style. The monk that did the tour was incredibly charismatic and speaks multiple languages. The route to the monastery is easily accessible and well signalled. The monastery is in a very touristic area in between the Transylvanian cities of Sibiu and Brasov and in close proximity to the German village if Cincsor. I recommend it both if in the area or not.

Beautiful monastery situated in a wonderful place. You have a great view over the mountains. It difintely worth visiting it. In the nearby there are a lot of places where you can eat or have a drink. I highly recommend this place!!

Superb

A true holly place, inside the courtyard are the graves of bishops of Transylvania, outside is a stone cross that is rise in the memory of all anti communist fighters of this area. Whort a visit to the cemetry where phater Teofil Paraianu rest in peace.

Easter Day 2019 at Sambata de Sus.One of the top monasteries of Romania, great natural scenery, visiting is a must.
